Question about 2000 Cadillac Escalade
I was told it was a brake, gear shifter sensor that needs to replaced sometime it shifts freely and some time it takes 10-20 minutes to shift
A sensor located at the top of the brake pedel that isn't contacting properly, or is worn excessively. In order to shift gears the car needs to sense that the brake pedel has been depressed. If the sensor is faulty the car won't get the proper signal to allow it to shift. The problem will only get worse as the sensor wears out more.

Tips for a great answer:

If you cannot shift out of PARK (P), ease the pressure on the shift lever. Push the shift lever all the way into PARK (P) as you maintain brake application. Then move the shift lever into the gear you want. If you are still having a problem shifting, then have your vehicle serviced soon.
