Question about 1988 Chevrolet Astro Cargo

Open Question

My front door won't close on my Astro van won't close.

The part it closes around has slipped. This has happened before, and I've fixed it using two screwdrivers, but I can't remember how.

SOURCE: my front door will not close because latch has

You should be able to open it with a large screw driver. Simply put the screw driver in the hole where the latch would go and pull the handle to open the door. With the handle in the open position pull the screw driver toward the inside of the van and the latch should open right up. Then close the door. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1995 Astro Van electric windows no power Is there

The problem will either be a faulty master window switch on the driver door, or a broken wire at the master window switch, or most likely the problem will be a broken wire inside of the weather boot that runs between the door and the body of the vehicle, and most likely it will be inside of the weather boot for the driver side door. If there is power going through the master window switch then look for a broken wire.

Here are two typical GM power window wiring diagrams to help assist you, and let me know if you require any further assistance.

My interior lughts won't go out when the doors are closed after the van is shut off

Could be the front electronic module. The module has a timer that holds the lights on for about 60 seconds after you exit the van.

How can I open the top rear hatch door on a 94 astro van if the button wont unlatch it

You will need to remove the interior trim including the handle to pull down the door, then you will be able to slip your hand in and manually trigger the release.

Last time I saw this happen, the linkage had simply popped of, I put it back on and wrapped a bit of safety wire around it to make sure it wouldn't happen again.

Hope this helps.

I'm replacing the door handle on my 1999 Chev. Astro van...I closed the door and now it won't open..even the inside latch won't open the door

take the door card/trim off and put your hand inside and pull the cable or lift it at the back of the lock, you have not put it back correctly check the small bars are in the correct position. either way you will have to remove the door trim its an easy fix but can take a while depending on any lock covers or motors inside the door.

hope this helps

2004 chevy astro van back seat right door won't open

not sure about your specific vehicle but i do know that in the winter, when a door closes, it grabs the pin in your doorjam like a lobster claw closes on a finger. if any moister is inside the mechinism, it can freeze very easily. also if you pull on the door handles tp try to open it...if the door handle moves freely, then you either bent or popped the rod that goes from the latch mechanism to the handles and you would have to take off the interior wall of the door to get to it and fix the rod or put it used to happen to older cars allk the time.

99 Astro lift door latch left side inoperative

I slammed the door shut one time and the door wood not open at all. I had to take the inside door handle off and found that the cables simply came off of their post (inside the door) on the outside part of the door handle. More than likely only one cable has come off its post on your van. I hope this helps!
