Have been to local auto parts stores - no schematic - Have the Haynes manual but does not show the breakdown of parts and where the smaller parts go. Any other suggestions and if not, then I would like a refund. Please reply. Thank you

The answer from blueextc 3221 did not help as I have already been to auto parts stores and also have the Haynes Manual. No schematic available to show where 2 very small pins need to go.

Please give me a refund as you have not been able to help. Will you please email me your answer.njmatthias@comcast.net

    Thank you.

Your best source for schematics is your local parts store.
A HAYNES manual basically tears down the vehicle and rebuilds it.
They have step by step diagrams.
Approximately $20

1998 buick century only high beams and turn signals work. No headlights. I have checked breakers, relays, fuses, power at headlight switch, power at headlight harness, all are good.

The Buick Century is equipped with a multi-switch. This switch is an all in one switch that controls your cruise control, windshield wipers and turn signals in one switch. This switch also controls dimming and brightening of your headlights. The dimmer switch is simple to replace, and all you need is a phillips head screwdriver to complete the task.

  1. Removing the Steering Column Shroud
    • Removing the dimmer switch starts at the steering column. To plan this task out, access the steering column by removing the screws holding the steering column shroud in place. This will expose the turn signal lever. Remove the lever by twisting it forward, and pulling it out of the switch.
    Removing the Dimmer Switch
    • The switch is held on by two screws and a wiring harness. The wiring harness can be removed by prying up on the locking tabs and pulling the connector out of the socket. The two screws can be removed with a phillips head screwdriver. The switch will slide out. To install a dimmer switch, be sure to repeat these steps in reverse order.

1995 olds royale ls cruise not working

There is a gray colored wire on the back of the pivot pulse dimmer switch assembly that is most likely the culprit. Not the multi function turn signal/wiper/cruise lever, its the wires that go through the column down to the plug just under the dash at the column. You may be able to see these wires using a flashlight looking into the opening behind the turn signal lever pulling the lever like your dimming the lights may help to see this. The wire may be just hanging there. Very common failure due to the fact that these wires move every time you dim your headlamps. You will have to replace the "Pivot pulse dimmer switch assembly". in the steering column. This switch assembly is attached directly to the turn signal switch. Disabling the air bags and removing the steering wheel will be required. If you decide to do this yourself, I would strongly suggest getting a good service manual and following the procedure to the letter.

How do i replace the turn signal for a 1980 vet?.. the old one broke off.

Are you saying the lever broke off or the actual swiich is broken inside the steering column? if it is just lever you can buy the lever, it just screws out counter clockwise. If you have cruise control you can buy the lever here.

If it is not the lever you will need to remove the steering wheel and the lock plate under the wheel, this will require special tools, these are a GM locking steering wheel spring compressor and a steering wheel puller, these tools can be purchase at upscale auto parts stores like NAPA and Carquest, they are made by KD Tools.

How do I remove the air bag from my 1998 GMC?

I don't think you have to remove the air bag to access. Did you take the torx head screws out of the bottom of the plastic?

Word of caution. I don't think this was designed for the average backyard mechanic to service. You'll have to replace the whole lever system all the way back to the wiring harness or cut and splice...which can get ugly. When I tried to get mine apart to replace the same thing, I broke several things trying to get it apart...and wound up replacing the entire steering column. After that I discovered that I had activated the anti theft system that I didn't know existed and had to have the truck towed to a dealership to get the computer reprogrammed. Do a lot more research before you try this or talk to someone who has been successful.

Need to relace the wiper/cruise control lever s10

take the cover off the wheel remove the center nut and you will have to get a steering wheel puller and crank that down on the center screw until the wheel comes off and then once you have the switch in just get the steering wheel in place and have it where you can catch a few threads and tighten it back down

Turn signals and back up lights dont work, bulbs and fuses good. Blinker lights only work in dash when emergency flashers are on.

Test the circuit board wires on the back side of your taillights where the bulbs go in to see if power is going there with the blinker on, if yes replace the circuit board (quite common with these trucks). If there is no power back there check your flasher relays for each turn signal, assuming they dont click off and on when you tip the turn lever. if all else fails, head for the multifunction switch behind your steering wheel inside the column that your turn signal/wiper/cruise control lever is connected to.
