Question about 1991 Jeep Cherokee Briarwood
I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has a nasty habit of stalling on me, randomly with no pattern. The engine simply shuts down, mostly while on the interstate at speeds of 60-70 mph. It will sometimes start right back up, or I have to pull over for 10-15 minutes before it starts. Once started, it runs fine. What's worse, I took it to a dealership, they changed the Idle control motor (almost 200 bucks) and it still stalls. Today I got a repair manual and learned a way to access the diagnostics on the Jeep computer. It returned an error code stating no signal between the distributor and the Power control had been indicated (error 12). Has anyone seen this type of problem, and if so what would you suggest? My 2000 jeep GC does the same thing, had the crank and cam snsor replaced and the air idle control as well. Still stalling, actually getting worse! i am at a loss.
Yes, but my problem came in a 1995 wrangler 4.0 liter. It is the camshaft sensor unit. Mine was in the distributor assembly. Get one I can almost garauntee that is what it is. I cannot however garauntee my spelling! Hope this helps!
