Mechanic0204 you are wrong. the cel is on for a reason and vagcom is the best way to diagnose the problem. I doubt your credentials as a mechanic and you are misleading people with that sn. Removing the negative terminal to your battery will reset the ecm and don't waste money on these obd code readers meant for American and Japanese cars.

Goto a sears automotive center, walmart, pepboys or some place like that, they sell OBD 2 code readers for the car, you connect it up to the computer and it will tell you what the code is that is setting the light off on the dash, if it is what you fixed, then you click on the the button to reset the light and you are done... the OBD2 readers can be anywhere from $20 to $40 or so dollars from those places. just get a cheap one cause that will save you a lot of money. but atleast then if the light ever comes on again you can connect the reader up read the code and fix the problem that is causing the check engine light to come on...hope this helps and saves you money

First of all you need to access the Engine Control Module (ECM) using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-Com, or similar) connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all DTC's memored. DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code. Then you will bu full informed about the root cause of the problem, and you will be able to repair & replace bad pieces and reset the ECM. Then the EPC (Electronic Pedal Control) yellow light will turn OFF.

LEXUS LS 2004 Maint Reqd (Master warning light) how I can switch off after change the oil engine?

You can disconnect your battery for 15 minutes or pull the fuse for an ECM or PCM fuse, but the best way is to visit any local repair shop. Most shops will have a universal Check Engine Light Code Reader that can quickly and safely reset check engine light trouble codes. It should take about 30 seconds.

Ask your local service center if they could reset the check engine light with a Check Engine Light Code Reader.

Error link on check engine reset tool

Check the fuse for your OBD II data link, also check to see if there is any power to the connector using a simple test light. That should FixYa.

How do I reset my Check Engine Light?

you could go to an auto parts store and they can reset it for you, or you could pull your battery cables off the battery and hold them together for about 10 sec. that will clear any codes.

Cannot find dipstick to check transmission fluid on 99 vw beetle. do '99 Passats need transmission fluid added to the engine? If so, how do I do this?

There is no "dipstick for the VW Beetle transmission". This is a dealer check/repair item. The unit is typically sealed, but can have a leak if the seal on top of the transmission fails. About a $700 repair. This happened on my 1998 VW New Beetle.
