Well here is what i would do,with the distributor out, bring #1 cylinder up,with the timing mark on the timing chain cover to "O",then drop the distributor back in,with the rotor button facing a certain way and mark where it points to on the intake or anything where you can put a line,(it may not drop all the way down so put your hand on it and push lightly and have someone bump the key-because the oil pump shaft doesnt always line up but it will and the distributor will drop down) then put the cap on and line up a post to that line and snug down the distributor but loose enough to turn incase you need to adjust it.start #1 plug there then do the sequence or firing order which is: 13726548--counter-clockwise...there is a special way to adjust it and it needs to be near perfect,i have a manual with me but cant upload a copy, but i can email you the pages if you need them.My email is :nov2771@yahoo.com send me a message if you do need a copy,i may not be able to get the copies to you right away but at the latest by Wednesday.

What is the engine capacity horse power for a 351 ford cleaverland .

351 "C" 4V 1970-1973 Cleveland
http://www.carmemories.com/ford-engine-specifications/351-engine-specs/351c.html
would have thought engine capacity would be what they wanted
351 cubic inches which converts to 5.75186 litre capacity
horse power in the link above is 300 BHP (brake horse power)

I have no idea myself but found the car memories web site that states the engine specifications and I hope it is correct and matches your engine ?
most likely it would be rounded up to a 5.8 litre capacity

The ford 351 Windsor was unique. Due to it's higher performance, they changed the timing on this engine. 1 3 7 2 6 5 4 8 is the timing sequence for your engine. The #1 cylinder is passenger side, front of block.

I have a 1981 ford f150 with a 351 Windsor in it I had the motor rebuilt and bought a new carb the truck starts fine but you have to keep the gas pedel pressed to keep it running if you let it idle it will...

1st check that the timing is correct to spec ,next see if the carb has an electric idling solenoid ,if it does check that there is live power to it when ignition is on>>>>also try adjust up the idling>>would need more info on carb ,model etc to helpfurther

DTC Reported P0505,P0351 What does this mean?

google it or better get the FSM for your car, and read how to do the tests, that prove what causes each DTC.
505 idle speed failure.
351
http://www.obd-codes.com/p0351

there are 5 engines, so first find that out,.
351
ignition Coil # 1 Primary Circuit Peak primary circuit current not achieved with maximum dwell time.
this means the coil primary is open (other books show the fail is for too low current (open coil in COP)

505
Engine started; system voltage over 11.5v and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage condition on one or more of the IAC motor circuits for 2.75 seconds with the IAC motor active.

id fix the 351, cop coil , its probably bad, or bad connections to it.
then clean the iSC,
then reset all codes, with a scan tool
drive 20 miles or until CEL glows, driving and the rescan.

Need schematics for 1982 Ford with 351 engine . (hot rodding a 51 ford, and need to know engine wiring for ignition of a 82 351 cleveland) to get spark) It's got a distributor, and a 2 and 4 wire connector...

I worked at the library and you can go to the Reference section ( those books can't be checked out) but you can copy what you need, they have old repair manual that are extremely detailed at the professional level, pictures of schematics, complete brake down on repairs much better than you can find in any book today that you buy at the local auto parts store. if one library does not have them then go to the next library in your area.

Adjust timing on 1998 GMC K2500 pick up 5.7 liter

It has to be done with a scanner. You can adjust this distributor, but there are no timing marks to watch as you move it. There is a timing mark on the balancer and on the timing cover for referencing Top Dead Center #1 cylinder only, but it is only used for dropping the distributor in to get the engine up and running. A scanner is needed to properly adjust the timing. Connect the scanner and look for a data parameter labeled ‘cam offset’ or possibly ‘cam ******.’ It will be listed in degrees. Start the engine, and bring it up to 1500 rpm. Note the reading. If the timing specification is not within plus or minus two degrees of zero, you need to move the distributor. You can move the distributor with the engine running but the timing will not change. After you move the distributor, the ignition has to be cycled off to let the computer learn the new timing spec. Restart the engine, bring it up to 1500 rpm and see what the new spec is. You must repeat this procedure until you get the timing into the specification as mentioned above. Once you have it set to spec, the code should clear.
