Question about 1999 Volkswagen Passat

How do I replace the front right turn signal on a 1999 VW Passat?

The entire turn signal light, casing and all, is gone and I need instructions on how to replace it so I don't have to take it to the dealership. They want to charge $280 and it costs $60 online. The link that you would plug the light into is intact I just need to know if there is some kind of spring or screw that keeps the new one in and where it goes. Thanks for your help.

Now let me read your question and not just post the wrong answer.

You asked how to change the turn signal correct..

I just thought someone explained how to locate an article on changing the Headlight....

I have a Passat and have taken out and installed the turn signal more then once.......

Yes their is a spring.... That's all the holds the whole fixture in..
So make sure the spring is still attached under the hood near where the back of light would be.
If not you need to buy one....

The spring simply hooks on to the back of the light and is attached the the frame of the car.
It holds it by pulling back on the light,

An easy install.

VW passat for model year 2001.5 – 2003, except HIDs). These were done on a 2001.5 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T. seem to be too wide for the wiring connector. Avoid touching the glass of the halogen bulb with bare hands. For easy access to the headlight’s bulbs, the cover shown above needs to be pulled out. As a reference, the arrows show what holds each other together. This will be helpful when placing this cover back. WARNING: Avoid touching the glass of the halogen bulb with bare hands. Use alcohol to clean off any contaminants. Read this book for VW service and repair manual complement. http://www.ebooksquad.com/2007/10/10/replacing-headlight-bulbs-for-the-vw-passat.html

The brake pedal whenever pressed open the circuit to complete the circuit which turns on the brake lights. Its like if the brake pedal is not depressed the circuit is bypassing the light. So when this short-cut is opened current has to go via the tail; bulbs making them glow..........sodeep

replace your fuel filter first. If that does not do it, then try an air-flow meter. (if the check engine light is on it may be an airflow meter.

Check the wires that are going to the brake pad sensors. Some shops will install pads that don't have the sensor connections on them, causing this light to stay lit.
