Car will run good for about 10 minutes or so, then when slowing down and pressing the accelerator pedal it gives indication of stalling but then picks up and starts to backfire

It sounds more like a timing problem. If it backfires through the carb that means the intake valve is open when the spark plug fires. Same with the exaust but it the exhaust valve that is open.

Check if you put back all the air (vacuum hoses) hoses to their proper places. You might inter change them making the EGR valve open. Also check your fuel filter and fuel injectors.

Check the valve timing.You might have some problems with your timing belt or camshaft sprocket. If timing is OK, check the resistance of your TP sensor, specially on the terminals for full throttle. Resistance should be 2 to 6.5 kilo ohms. Lower than this the ECM will not give the right avance ignition timing to your engine. Repositioning the mounting angle may correct the problem.

if i were you i would try a new air filter if no change go for a fieulfilter and then spark plugs and wires
