If the laser head hit the label on the disk, it may be scratched or knocked out of position. You may be able to remove it and check for physical damage but it would probably be better to send the player in for service..

Both. Check the power line that is supposed to power the clock and memory circuits when you turn off the ignition.

And your player has lost the ability of the laser to focus on the disc - hence the error message.

If one of the discs slipped off its tray and got jammed, you will have to take the cd changer out of the car and dislodge the jammed cd.
I had this happen a few years back and the guys at the auto parts store helped me remove it for free.

Before connecting any cables you must set the dip switch box to the position listed for your vehicle. If you set the dip-switches after you have connected cables to the box, you must disconnect and reconnect them for the changer to operate. Some radio models require pressing "Seek >" once to start playing after changing CD or after startup. The radios display will not show the proper disc number after disc six. You can use all 10 discs in the magazine, but the readout will be wrong. do you have a 6 disc changer or just a cd player for one disc

need to know your changer brand number and year then go on ebay and enter your info it will find the right one for you

Hi, You need to replace the cd changer. This is very common on these vehicles. The best place to get the changer is the dealership. I have seen them fit aftermarket changers in there but can not give any advise on that.

I don't have a solution, but the same thing happened to my car. I have a 2007 Honda Accord with a 6 disc cd player and it is reading "Mechanical Error" and it won't work and all my cds are stuck in there.

ok I fixed it....took out the sat nav and cleaned the lens with a cotton bud..WORKS!!!
