How to replace a water pump in an 2003 Chevrolet cavalier motor size is 2.2L SFI DOHC and any special tools am i going to need and what steps on finding and replacing it any help would be nice???????
i am use to working on older cars with a big block and not a side ways motor
With the serpentine belt still on,loosen the 3 bolts holding water pump pulley on.remove serpentine belt.remove the 3 bolts and take off the pulley.If you want,you can remove the alternator for easier access to pump.loosen the 4 bolts on pump and allow coolant/water to drain from engine.remove bolts ,remove water pump,clean gasket off engine block.install pump etc.in reverse order.install 50-50 mix of dex-cool coolant(coolant and water mix).run vehicle with radiator cap off to remove air bubbles from system.install radiator cap,top off recover bottle.
