Question about 1994 Cadillac DeVille
My 94 Deville has set for an extended period of time. I recently started it to charge the battery and the air woudn't blow cold. I tried to give it a shot of freon thinking that was the problem. The system wouldn't accept the freon and the compressor never engaged. At this point, I reset the a/c by unhooking the negative battery cable for a minute. I did this more than once. I checked the low pressure switch by attempting to jump start the compressor...didn't work. I also used a test light to make sure there was juice going to the switch. It appears that the a/c clutch is locked up, because I can't spin it with my hand. I hear no noises whatsoever from the compressor when the engine is running, it simply won't engage. Any help would be greatly appreciated. AC Compressor won't engage. It says low on freon but I check it with a gauge and it shows fine. I have check all fuses. I tried to add freon but it wont take it.
To reset your AC compressor, you need to remove power for at least 15 minutes. After you reconnect, the compressor should turn on. If it does, immediately turn to high and try to add refrigerant. Best of luck.
