Yes, white smoke means oil is burning -- it could be coming from a cylinder with bad rings -- this would test low on compression.

If you replaced the rings, it sounds like there's at least one cylinder losing compression -- I would suggest a compression test.

If your engine is not misfiring but it vibrates too much while idling your motor mounts might be getting worn out. I had a Nissan with bad motor mounts. I was ok in park but when you put it in gear it vibrated a lot. It smoothed right out as soon as you started moving.

White smoke in the morning in cool weather is normal. But excessive white smoke in warm weather isn't and yes excessive white smoke is coolant and dark is oil or too lean fuel mixture

Rough Idle: Spark wires, coils, rotor cap and distributor, spark plugs, MAF sensor, MAP sensor, the biss screw needs to be adjusted. Could be very many things. Those are just some of the few.

I thought white smoke was coolant burning, and black is oil or fuel.

I have a 2004 gmc envoy with a 4.2 motor....it has a slight vibration while at idle but my main concern is why my entire motor and vehicle shakes violenty when i shut the vehicle off.

I think what you might have is called dieseling on shut off. Newer engines run much hotter than older vehicles and require a fuel shut off solenoid close to the engine. If this solenoid goes bad, on vehicle shut off, excess fuel is still being fed to the engine. Even though there is no spark because the key is off, the engine is hot enough to ignite the fuel causing the shake and shudder. I'm not 100% sure of this but thats what it sounds like. If the solenoid is working properly and shuts off the fuel line like it should there is no excessive fuel to ignite. Thus no shake or shudder.

1994 Camaro rough oepration and reduced power

I have a 94, and mine ran rough until I had a new computer control chip put in. The dealer doesnt sell then anymore, so you would need to get a reconditioned one (is that the right word?) from an auto parts store. I had to get this done twice because the first one was bad so they swapped it out. There was one more thing the former owner did to fix a rough run situation, I will post it when I find the receipt. Also, it smoothed out even more when I changed out the motor mounts. WAY less vibration. I love to drive this car now!

It is most ideal that the job be done with a well equipped authorised service center. It is important that sine your vehicle had clocked so many kms, the entire vehicle needs a good closer look.
it must start with the engine, if there is vibration then there can be imbalance of the engine , need to check the condition of all four cylinders. Also the suspension, links and shocks, brakes, alignment and chassis/doors , hinges for rattling and vibrations.

Hi! Mine one is Ti Carina 1997. It was having vibration while in idle mode. The RPM was going up and down between 600 to 800. I changed the injectors, spark plug cable and even the distributor. Lastly, i found one of the AC vacuuam cable was faulty. Just change the cables to have a dignosis. If problem is not solved, then you gotta check your Engine's Head whether the components are rotating freely or not. A jam in head can lead to such kind of vibration, specially with A/C on as the engine has to spend more power to move the rotating components inside the head.

2001 gmc safari vibration noise under vehicle when drive 40-65

Vibration can be so many things. As far as the leaking goes, you can remove the cover from the rear and re-seal. Vibration can be unbalanced tires, bad u-joints, bad rear, (hope not), and in my case it was my motor mounts were a little worn, and the slight drop in motor height caused my exhaust to vibrate off the cross member on the tranny, and I replaced everything and couldn't figure it out. It was crazy. Good luck, if any new info comes up on the vibration, please comment back, I am sure we can figure it out.
