97 A4 backboard speaker confusion

Hey guys

Found this site through google, hoping maybe you could help.

I have a 1997 Audi A4, I bought it 2nd hand, and when I bought it, the speakers where fine.

Over the last year, it sounds like the speakers have blown or come loose, as their is some serious scraping/knocking sounds for any type of base.

Problem is, I know nothing about the speaker set up of the car. I am normally very clued up, and do all my work myself on my car, but when I got my Audi I stopped doing that as I wanted it done right, and honestly, its quite hard doing it myself lol.

So just looking for some insight on how the backboard speakers are set up. Thanks to Audi's trusty impossible to loosen clips, I couldn't even get the casings off, lol.

I see that they use a different connector to normal speakers, Im used to connecting speakers with those little 2 point connectors, but now there is a black plug. is that plug only for the housing? will I be able to replace the speakers with any speakers? or specific ones?

Any insight would be appreciated

also I noticed, my back left speaker has a metal casing around it, but the back right one has a plastic casing around it... Is this normal?

Trying to install a new cd player in my 97 audi a4 but do not have a wiring diagram of the wires in the car

The easiest way to wire it is to get a pre-fit harness that fits the vehicle and stereo. Search the stereo's web site to find one.

Audi a4 1.8 avant 1997

my 97 a4 would start and then die, i had it diagnosed as the immobiliser in the dashboard costing about £600 !!! The battery went flat trying to start it so i took it off the car and charged it up, when i put it back on the car before i took it to get fixed i thought i would try it 1 more time and "hey presto" it started and ran and has not missed a beat since ! That was 2 years ago, it was like the computer had re-set itself with the battery removed for charging, i hope this may be of some help.

Audi 2001 Speaker

Nope - this site isn't a sales site, it's just a tech advice site on how to fix problems. Your best bet for buying a speaker would be eBay, a salvage yard like www.shokan.com, or the classifieds sections on www.audiforums.com or www.audizine.com.
