Question about 1995 Jaguar XJ6
Since a few weeks the motorized antenna on my 1996 XJ6 only comes out in about 50 % of the cases when I switch on the radio, or it gets down while the radio is still on. If that happens, it's impossible to get the antenna out again until the contact has been switched off completely. Switching the radio on and off many many times won't help. I measured the voltage on the antenna connector pins and it looks like the mid of 3 pins controls the up/down position of the antenna. That is, it carries 12 V when the antenna comes out correctly, and it stays 0 V in the cases the antenna refuses to come out. So apparently the problem is not in the antenna, but in the source of the voltage on the mid connector pin. My question: is this directly connected to the radio (which would mean that I probably need to replace the radio :-( ), or is there some other module in the car that takes care of this ?
Dont be fooled by your voltage reading the fault lays within the arial itself i worked on jaguars for many years from an appprentice up the reason the arial wont come out fully is because it probably needs a good clean using wd40 and a clean rag with the arial extended start from the bottom and spray and wipe upwards
