It could be a number of things that would casue this.
Here's a few things to ceck:
Brake pads- If you've recently had them replaced it is possible that the sensor was not reconnected, or maybe has gotten disconnected.

Another could be a fuse, relay, and/or your master cylinders controller has gone out.

What ever it could be I'd contact a dealer before they are all gone, it seems to be farly common in chevy trucks that I've driven worked on and rode in so there may be a recall.

This means...something needs to be attended to in your braking system! I'm sorry to be harsh, but the light comes on.....FOR A REASON! Have your brakes looked at, by a professional ASAP!....before you have a life changing accident.

Where is the abs relay located

The abs relay is internal to the EBCM if you are referring to the code c0265 sets in the module and causes the ABS and RED brake light.

2001 GMC Jimmy. Is there a fuse I can take out to disable the ABS system and just use the regular braking system so I can drive it into town and get it checked out and fixed properly? The ABS system is...

Under the hood there should be a fuse box, it's going to be one of the big fuses, had the same problem, 01 Tahoe. Found out it was a front bearing assembly. I replaced and it works fine now. Be carful as you will have no abs once fuse is pulled and FYI the abs light and break light will stay on as well. Good luck

Wheel sensor problem 2001 tahoe causing antilock to function even when wheel is not sliding at low speeds approaching a stop sign etc.

Hi

Often this fault is trigeered by poor rear brakes, normally the brake pads in the back, the system knows the brakes are low but compensates to the front to slow the car even at low speed, if the back calipers are pushed all the way out the ABS thinks the back brakes are defective so puts more to the front. Hope that makes sense.

so long as they are working thats a good sign and means the pump is ok, I would check the level of the brake pads back and front and also check the brake fluid level. failing all this then have the brakes bled through, to much air can also confuse the ABS, lastly and least likely the ABS module coud be going funy, they are pretty cheap and easy to swap over, but I am more inclined to think this is a mechanical fault and not electrical

Regards

Dan

p.s they have 4 sensors one on each wheel for the ABS, this wont make tha car brake like that but they could be dirty and sending the wrong signal to the module.

WILL IT HARM THE ENGINE OR VEHICLE IN GENERAL ON A 2001 TAHOE IF YOU CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT WITH THE ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION OFF LIGHT ON?

No you will not "harm" the vehicle.

1. The ABS fault light will mean that the anti - lock braking facility is not working. However the conventional braking system will continue to operate. Bear in mind that you now have no system that prevents you from locking up your brakes so it is all down to the driver.

2. Traction control (TC) warning. The TC function will not be working or not working as programmed. There should be a TC on/off switch or button in the vehicle. Make sure you manually disable the TC by switching the TC OFF until the problem is identified and rectified.
TC is a useful driver aid, especially in slippery road surface conditions, so take extra precautions when driving without it.

Even in good conditions the Tahoe is not a vehicle that handles well.

3. You should get the vehicle checked for the ABS and TC problem. It may only be some faulty sensors that require replacing but a proper diagnosis needs to be made.

2001 Chevy Silverado anti-lock brakes activate on dry pavement, the pedal pulsates, the typical anti-lock brake sound is heard, and the truck feels like it is not going to stop at times

One of the sensors has gone bad and needs to be replaced, the other thing to that would also do that is the ABS sensor is dirty or needs to be re gaped to the speed ring on the hub. There was a issue bulletin with your Tahoe on the ABS activating under 8 km/h. Good luck and hope this helps, if not clean out the sensor with brake parts cleaner and check the wire harness and ABS sensor bracket. Re gap the sensor to the speed ring hub. Here is the bulletin. Anti-lock brakes activate on dry pavement

First, is the ABS light on? Does it come on when it's doing it? Make sure the brake fluid is full, and the brakes are still servicable, ie, pads still have meat on them. If so, the abs control module or a speed sensor might be on the way out. This is a safety issue, and I would recommend getting the truck to a good mechanic to have it checked out.

Tahoe abs and brake light intermittently stay on

When you start to loose your abs sensors(more than one)the brake light will come on.with one sensor going the abs light will come on.I would have your front wheel bearings check seen as how that is were the sensors are.If a weeering sound happens while driving and increases and decreases with with speed I would definatly suspect wheel bearings.

2001 Chevy Tahoe with ABS & Brake light on.

I hope you have the problem fixed by now, but, it is the ABS control under the truck. You need to go under the hood and open the fuse box and disconnect the 60 amp fuse for the ABS, this will turn it off before it burns up. This however will also cause the traction assist off light to stay lit all the time. To the fix the problem you can pay tons of money ($700 or so) to have the dealership install a ABS control and the problem will happen again over time. Or, remove it yourself, go on ebay and ship it off to a guy who repairs them for about $150 and you will never have the problem again. Also, if you wrap your cable ends with plastic and protect them good, you can still drive you truck while the part is being worked on. It takes about a week.
