Is your jetta a 1998 or 2000? the site is showing two different years. here are instructions for a 2000 jetta gl. there is a blower motor resistor in this system. there is also a fuse integral to the resistor. it's all one unit, have to replace the whole thing. here's the step by step:
1.remove the glove box (what you need to get to is behind it)
2.disconnect the electrical connector from the blower resistor
3.disconnect the heater fan electrical connector
4.remove the blower resistor
5.remove the blower motor downward
and to reinstall
1.install the blower motor
2.install the blower resistor
3.connect the electrical connector to the heater fan
4.connect the electrical connector to the blower resistor
5.install the glove box
and of course anytime you work on anything electrical you are supposed to disconnect the battery negative terminal before you start, be warned that you might lose your radio station presets when you disconnect battery
hope that helps

Hi James, Check all the fuses and in particular the connection cables to the battery. The circuits you have mentioned are auxiliary to the starter and operate through relays. One of those is a main relay and that is where I would check. Regards John

2004 VW Jetta why doesnt the larger coolant fan come on

Hmm well that can simply be a blown fuse .. Check the fuse panel under the hood..it can also be the thermostat or a blown fan to check this connect the fan wires directly to the battery... Also make sure it aint your ac fan.. Turn ac on.. If the above fails change the thermostat..

How do you know where the fuses go too in a Jetta 2000?

This is probably an a/c,heater relay,or fuse, usually located under the hood , in a covered fuse box. Check your vehicles owners manual for the exact location of your fuse panels. There are probably 2 boxs in your car, one under the hood, and one in or under your dashboard.Usually heater and A/C are on the same relay, but may have seperate fuses, check them all. your manual will show the locations. good luck

You may not be full of refrigerant... There is a low pressure switch that prevents the AC from actuating the clutch, and the reason is: IF there is not enough refrigerant, you will not be able to move oil through the system and you will have major damage...so no engauge...

Get the system checked, most likely there is a leak somewhere..

1998 jetta GL the air works and runs cold but randomly will cut off? could this be low freon or is it the system?

by cut off, do you mean it turns off, or stops pumping out cold air? If it stops pumping out cold air, definitely sounds like you have a freon leak. If it's turning off completely, it could be the switch is just acting up, or it could mean the condensor is going bad
