Question about 2007 Dodge Caliber SRT4 Hatchback

1 Answer

2007 Dodge Caliber will not start

My 2007 Dodge Caliber with 2.0 Liter engine just stalled and will not start. The fuel pump does not sound like it is working when the key is turned on and there is no fuel in the fuel rail. The engine cranks fine and will restart for a bit with some starter fluid. All fuses and connections look good. Could the fuel pump have failed that suddenly?

I'm sorry but you need to proof read your comment. From what I see is that your fuel system is at fault. Have you ever replaced your fuel filter? How many miles does it have on it?

How to change out the fuel pump on 2007 dodge caliber

Easy!! Pull back seat out,,Tap retaing ring out with dull chisel and hammer,,Unhook lines,,Lift out pump (theres gas in it so tip it so the gas pours back into he tank)
Extra tip: BEFORE putting the new pump in,hook up the terminal and turn the key on to hear the pump run for 2-3 sec AND check that the sending unit is making the fuel gauge work!
Also be sure the retaining ring is tapped all the way in ,should be some marks on it. Likley you will spill a little gas around the tank too.

Stalling out at normal operating temp!

it sounds like the fuel pump is quitting once it gets warm. I've seen this plenty of times. When you turn the key to on, not all the way to start you should hear the fuel pump humm for a second or 2. When it quits on you try this to see if you get that humming. I bet the pump is dying, specially since everything else is new. Good luck and I hope this helps you.
