Dodge trailer wiring

I have traced this problem to the truck (04 Dodge)when towing a trailer all the trailer lights work except for the left stop/turn signal. The running lamps will light up even the left one!! I tested the yellow wire on the truck with the turn signal on and get nothing when I do this on the right lamp it works. All the fuses under the hood are good.

Dodge has some issues with the Integrated Power Control Module (FCM) related to some problems with rear lighting. Do you still have any warranty left? If so it is a covered item. I am not suggesting that this is the problem, just a note. I have seen this type of problem from these modules before. Your local dealer can run your VIN number and tell you if you have coverage.

Check the owners manual to be sure of the location of the trailer fuses. Most have several locations for the fuses. Other than that, look for a loose or corroded connection. Also check http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx.

No left turn/brake light for trailer

In the Uk nearlly all trailor socket wiring is done from the rear light wiring of the towing vehicle so I suggest checking the wiring back from the trailor connection socket and also socket, it could be a broken or cut wire. Also will probably find your vehicle a control unit fitted the trailor socket which could also the problem. Find the pin outs for your turn signal on the socket and connect a bulb across this connection and the common earth to check its not a fault on your tralior.

Trailer wiring problem. Tow vehicle is a 2008 Grand Caravan with 4 wire plug. Double checked, plug function works fine. When trailer is plugged to tow vehicle with tow vehicle lights OFF the trailer...

Most likely the brown wire from the trailer connector is connected to a constant battery voltage source, and it should be connected to the vehicle running light circuit, however someone might have wired the trailer connector up that way on purpose so that the trailer does not draw power from the vehicle running lights and possibly damage the vehicle running light circuit. (Dodge/Chrysler vehicles do have delicate lighting systems) Here are some images to help assist you, and the 4 way connector is the same as the 5 way connector just without the blue wire for the trailer brakes.

2006 dodge ram 3500 no left turn signal or left brake coming out of the tow package......no power back there for those lights. any solutions before duck tape and toggle switches are implemented???? LOL

There will be a connector where the tow package wiring hooks up into the main wiring harness. Trace the wires from the trailer plug back till you find the connection place. Wiggle or carefully remove outer protection.
You will find the bad connection if you are patient.
It is to nice of a rig for duct tape and toggle switches.

2003 Dodge Ram 3500 left turn signal problems / trailer

Well let me shed some light on this issue. I have the same problem. Trailer connection from truck does not have power to left turn signal and left brake light. I just got back from the dealership and $100.00 labor charge. My problem is the TIPM (Fuse Box for short) and FCM (little silver module hooked to the Fuse Box on the left hand side of the fuse box). $910.00 for the parts and Chrysler doesn't have any in stock. 4-6 weeks to maybe fill a back order. I am currently researching an alternative way to fix this issue. I will let you know.

LEFT TRAILER TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT WORK

I have seen once before that the fuse box was bad on a 2003 Dodge 3500. I had power in and nothing out. We had to replace the box. Not cheap! Hope it is simple like a loose connection though. I think I had to pull the inner fender on the drivers side to access the bottom of the fuse box. Pain in the ****, but...

LEFT TRAILER TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT WORK

I'd get a 12vdc test light if you don't have one already & start from plug, and keep probing back from there. It may be as simple as a bad connection under truck where joined into harness.
