Raise tire pressure to 36psi, install a high air flow ( low restriction/low micron) air filter, and 5/20 full synthetic motor oil. And if you use a/c, set to normal or economy, not max. Also , most states use winter fuel which reduces fuel mileage 10 -15% on most cars.

Shifting hard

auto trans or manual? If auto, the difficulty could be from a failing brake light switch. That switch also controls the shift mechanism. You have to get on the floor board on the drivers side, while it is in park of course. Depress the brake pedal with your hand, you will see the switch depress. You want to remove that switch, take it to your auto store, get a new one, reverse the removal process

Why is my 2009 chevrolet aveo brake lights not working

are you having any difficulty putting it into gear, if is auto trans? Had a problem with no brake lights,2004 Aveo, there is a plunger switch that engages when you depress the brake pedal. if you get on floorboard under the steering wheel area, depress the brake pedal you will see the switch the brake pedal should be engaging. It is simple to remove, take to your auto parts store, they should have one in stock. Good Luck

Cannot get 05 chevy aveo out of park Auto transmission

I don't have a solution.... but it's a fuse. Something is causing it to blow, locking the transmission. On top of your gear shift, there a black tab, pop tab off, insert a key or something (it's a button) and it will unlock your transmission and you'll be able to drive it. My car has this issue now, been in the shop for over a week. For me, it's my stop light fuse.

Acceleration goes up and down

Go to your local Auto Zone and ask them to read your diagnostic codes. They will scan your codes at no charge to you. Write the codes down and reply back to me and we can get started.
It could be something as simple as a plugged fuel filter.
Good luck, let me know.

2005 chevy aveo with 49,000+ miles just saw a lit-up engine (outline) come on... just to the left of the digital clock. Does this mean it's due for service, or is it something seriously wrong? Thanks --

This could be as simple as a hose leak or leaving your gas cap off. Go to your local auto mechanic, (i use jiffy lube, the're cheap) and have them hook it up to the macjine and it will read the code to tell you what the problem is.
