Re: Need to find Low Pressure A?C Port 2001 Impala 3.8
Take the complete air cleaner box out of the motor compartment. The low
pressure port for the AC is usually right below or beside this area,
but buried.

I have an 02 Impala w/ 3.8L. I'm pretty sure the low pressure port is next to the air filter box. The other port is between the engine and firewall. See picture.
If you are gonna charge Freon, you are looking for the LOW SIDE pressure valve. Most of the time its located on the low pressure hose or the evaporator itself.Look for a HUGE black cap most of the time its that color your freon can if it came with a hose attached will only fit the low side connection.
I have a 2002 Impala 3.8L
There is one port between the air filter box and strut tower (driver's side). I'm pretty sure that's the low pressure port.
The high port is against the firewall behind the engine, about in the middle.
The ports are covered by black caps.
Basic AC system consists of Compressor pump (on engine), Condenser (front grill with radiator) and Evaporator (Firewall). Pump has two ports output (high pressure) and return (low pressure). Follow lines from pump. High side is usually between pump and condenser. Follow lines and find second port this will be low side (refill) port. Paint or replace port caps (red high, blue low). Also, refrigerant in system determines port size (R12 or R34).
