Question about 1991 Nissan Pickup

New master and slave still have no petal pressure or clutch

91 nissan pickup has on clutch pressure at the petal when it has a new master and slave what would cause this problem?

    did you bleed all the air out of the hydraulic line connecting the master cylinder to the slave?
    Air compresses where oil won't...
    once the air is out of the ine and cylinders, the pedal should firm back up....

Was the slave cylinder bled correctly? If that's all set then that would leave the throw-out bearing and/or clutch assembly.

Most likely clutch is worn out, increases pedal height and pedal resistance, recommend replace if around 100,000 miles old. Also good idea to replace clutch master and slave, and service trans fluid.

Hydraulic clutch slave cylinder


this symptom would typically be solved with a new cluth slave cylinder. Check to make sure the fluid is full in the master cylinder reservoir. If the fluid is empty then there is either a leak, or the clutch is has worn. filling the reservoir and bleeding the system may get you back on the road.

Being a single piston master i do not see how it could be holding pressure on the the slave cylinder. if your clutch petal is releasing high you need a new clutch and pressure plate

91 nissan pathfinder 5 speedmanual.... Clutch pedal feels stiff and when i start it in gear the truck lunges forward like the clutch it still engaged.... Master and slave have been replaced and all hyd....


It really sound like you are going to need a new clutch. If the slave or master cylinders were bad they would feel loose, a stiff pedal usually means something came apart in the pressure plate.

I have a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo in which the clutch pedal went to the floor & stayed there. Upon inspection, the clutch master cylinder was empty on fluid. I filled the reservoir & bleed the clutch...


It sounds as if you have 2 problems here.

The fact that the clutch pedal went to the floor and stayed there suggest a fault in the master cylinder. It may be that you need to overhaul the master cylinder.

Overhaul kits are available at less cost than a clutch master cylinder:

The grinding noise ... A grinding noise would be caused by either the gear not engaging properly because of the defective clutch.

Or, if it is more of a squealing noise - that may be the clutch release bearing at fault.

Are you absolutely sure that your entire clutch unit - pressure plate, driven plate and release bearing aren't worn?

Clutch looses pressure, leaking by clutch peddle


Clutch master cylinder is leaking out of piston cup.Detach from clutch pedal, disconnect hydralic line, and remove 2 firewall retaining bolts or nuts and pull out. Replace clutch master and bleed line at clutch slave cylinder.

Clutch petal goes to the floor with little resistance. can't get in gear.


fill the reservoir for the clutch slave cylinder. No with the engine OFF pump the clutch 25 times. Yes 25 times. Now start the engine and see if it shifts. If it does you need a new slave cylinder, clutch, pressure plate, & throwout bearing as well. Everything is replaced upon dismantling for you do now want to do it again within a few months later. Also have the flywheel machined smooth if its still any good

I have a 91 nissan d21 and cnt find the slave cylinder or master slave cylinder?


The master is beside the brake master cylinder, between the brake cylinder and the fender. Follow the line down to the trans, it ends at the slave. Now that you know where they are... why do you want to know??
