I have a(correction): 1995 Grand am. It's not getting power to the fuel pump... The coil, relay, & ignition module are fine. I've just put my 3rd fuel pump & fuel filters on thinking that may be the problem. With the pump before this, my car would run til the motor got hot & then would cut off & not crank until the motor cooled. But now it's getting no power to the pump at all. Had a friend tell my that it's a possible short in my ground wire going to the pump. Is he right?

Thanks so much.. I've had a lot more sense about my car that most of these so-called mechanics around this town. It's just that I'm a single mom of 3 & can't afford to put this thing in the shop. You can't imagine how big of a pain it was to put that pump on by myself considering I'm like 125lbs. I grew up with 2 bro's so I learned alot about cars. Just can't understand the diagrams in the book for my car.

If the fuse and fuel pump relay check out then yes, your friend may be right. Inspect the connections to the pump and check related wiring for damage.

Check your oil sending unit if bad then no power to the pump. this is a savor for your car if you loose oil pressure then the pump shuts off .They only did this a few years!

coil problem will starteasy but fail after running for a while
fuel pump relay again it is running after starting and if the relay is no good , it will not pump fuel
try having the fault codes read first then have the faulty sensor replaced

I need a wiring diagram for 1995 2500 6.5 turbo diesel electric fuel pump circuit

The primary (coils) side of the fuel pump relay is powered by the CRANK fuse (10 Amp) located in the instrument panel fuse block. This fuse is hot ONLY when the ignition switch is in the CRANK position. The secondary (contact) side of the relay is powered by the ECM-B fuse (20 Amp) which is hot at all times. This fuse is located in the engine compartment fuse block. The electric fuel pump in the tank only operates during engine cranking.

Last night I stopped my 1994 Jeep grande cherokee v6. Went out this morning and the engine turned over fine but it was as if it was not getting gas or a spark. Similar to when the security system goes into...

When the security system cuts the ignition, it lets you know.
So it was probably the fuel or spark instead.
You need to check rail fuel pressure with a gauge, and check current to coil with test light.
It could be a simple relay like for the fuel pump.
If you got no dash lights, it could be the ignition switch.
The ignition or fuel control module could be bad, but Autozone can check them if you bring them in.

I have a 1995 jeep gcl. The engine turns over but will not start. Is it the fuel pump or a relay of some kind.

its either the fuel pump or relay, crank sensor or ignition module or coil. Or even possibly a failed computer, If it will start with quick start then its a failed fuel pump or relay or fuse for it. If it still does not start then testing components will be needed in the ignition system

I have a 91 s-10 that wont run...fuel pump runs and I am getting fuel to the carb all brand new plugs and wires and ignition coil and module and new cap and rotor? fires up and dies out?

The fuel pump relay is at fault. The engine will start running off the oil pressure sensor for the 3rd wire connected to the sensor feeds power to the fuel pump which makes your truck start right up. When the engine achomplish the standard oil pressure as needed the sensor shuts power off by the PCM default system and turns on the fuel pump relay to continue working the fuel pump. replace the relay and you will be driving around again

Wont start it turns over with full power,, i put new coil, new cap an rotor

Do you have spark? If you do sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Check fuse for fuel pump, you are in a later year and should have an electric fuel pump. If you are getting fuel to the injectors at correct pressure you may need new injectors.

Try starting with starter fluid if it catches that will secure that it is a fuel delivery issue. If it doesnt you probably dont have spark and most likely be an ignition module.

1995 Ram 1500. Just died? No votage to coil, no spark?

The power supplied to the fuel pump, ignition coil, fuel injectors and parts of the power module is controlled by the logic module through the Automatic Shutdown Relay (ASD):
The ASD relay is closed (allowing power to flow through it) when the ignition is first turned on. If the signal from the ignition reference is lost while the engine is running, the logic module cuts power to the ASD, which in turn removes power from the fuel pump, ignition coil, injectors and those parts of the power module.  This causes the engine to shut down.

Failure of the automatic shutdown relay is often shown as inexplicable stalling or refusal to start. The ASD can be triggered by a broken wire or short in another place, e.g. the fuel pump.  Hope this helps, and did you try to retrieve any DTC codes?? Be glad to help friend.

No power to fuel pump

What you need to do is drop the fuel tank and put a new fuel pump in it. I would drain the gas and put new gas in after you get the pump changed.
