Question about 1994 Audi 100
I have a 1994 audi 100cs. It drove fine and started up with no problem until a week ago when it just wouldn't start. It does not crank when I turn the ignition either. There is power to everything else including radio, dash etc.
The car also has a remote starter which cannot get the engine to crank nor start. any ideas? Got a guy to look at it and he told me that the starter looked bad because low sparks when he tried to short it. I doubt it tis the starter since this happened all of a sudden with no warning of a failing starter..
If you have acess to a mutimeter check the batery voltage. Should be around 12.5 volts. also check batery voltage when trying to crank engine. Should drop to 9volts while cranking. If it dose but engine dose not turn over you know power is still going to the starter motor but its just not turning. This could be a bad conection in the starter some where.if voltage dose not drop you know power is not reaching the starter motor. this could be a bad earth to the starter from the baterty somewhere. But also listen for clunking or clicking noices while cranking which would surgest the starter is trying to turn. try this before doing any other diagnostics.hope this helps

How do you reset the alarm if the car does not start?

The bottom of the ignition key- where you insert the key- tends to break. I had to change it at 140000km. On my car it was the instrumet light ect. that was not working. It is realy poor quality. The good thing is that it is easy to replayse and costs only around 20 eur.
