Most auto parts stores Advance/ Autozone etc will get the diagnostics codes from cars computer and tell you why the light is on and what the problem is if there is a problem.

Sometimes when I drive several miles and then stop. When I try to start it again, the engine turns over but won't start It is like it floods itself.

Have you tried to hold the gas pedal to the floor ? Ford's have clear flood mode strategy programmed into the PCM , if you hold pedal to the floor the engine computer disables the fuel injectors . If it is flooded holding to the floor will clear it out .

Help me fix my crapalier! Please!!! It has rough surging idle while stopped.hardly any throttle response hesitation while accelerating and the power to the pedal cuts in and out and sometimes the power...

Wow, crappylier is right, hard to say where to start. Did you get the vacuum leaks stopped where it broke?
Before you put another dime into it, Casey, why not verify the $60 block sealer really worked? You may have stopped the water from going into the oil, but I would still be suspicious of the head gasket with all the troubles you are having. So I would say do a compression test of the engine. Don't want to pay a shop for the test? Then buy a compression gauge and kit for $40, and do it yourself. Autozone or some nationals may even rent the compression tester. It's an easy test, easy to learn how, easy to do. On a warm engine, pull the plugs, hold the throttle wide open, and check compression on each cylinder, while cranking the engine over. Oh yes, also need to disable fuel and ignition: pull the fuel pump fuse, and ground the coil primary positive wire to the coil pack, or ground the coil wire to distributor high tension cable if you have a distributor.
If compression is good on all cylinders, then the stuff did work, you have a good engine and can put some money into repairs. If you find low compression on one or more cylinders, there's your problem, the cylinder head will have to come off for inspection. You may do the expensive repairs needed, or just scrap the car. But you will have a good compression gauge tester for your next prospective ride, maybe no more crapaliers?

I can;t reset the change oil light on my dash of my 2007 lincoln town car I had the oil changed last week ?

This procedure work for one 2004... press mode button until oil life or change oil or change oil now is displayed press and hold mode button for 5 seconds until reset for new oil is displayed then hold reset for 2 seconds.

Additionally, I quite other comments about this subject....

Few issues have troubled technicians more than the infamous "Change oil soon light." We have even had quick lube shops send customers to me at the dealership to shut off this light.
Yes, the engineer that designed this system most certainly had flunked out of the "User Friendly" semester of college. The most common problem is between step 1 and 2 of the owner's manual. The natural tendency is that when we scroll through the menu to the "oil life XX%" mode, we lift our finger. This is where most go wrong. Once the "oil life XX%" comes up on the menu, do NOT lift from depressing the button- just hold for 5 seconds until the "Reset for new oil life" comes up. Again, do not lift your finger.

The parking assist is a different concern altogether. The parking assist light illuminated when it is deactivated- opposite of what seems logical. It was probably the same design engineer as the oil change system. If the system is disabled, (illuminated) it is intended to cycle back when the key is shut off.

Hope helps.

My 2009 chev aveo has a hold button. the hold light on the dash is flashing. the book says take it in to fix. what can it be?

I have a 2009 Chevy Aveo. The hold light has come on two times since I have owned the vehicle. The first time at about 37,000 (just out of warranty)the vehicle started running very poorly. the check engine light came on as well as the hold light blinking. At first I thought it was a transmission problem, It was NOT. The problem with this gem of a car is that the spark plugs need to be replaced by 35,000 miles. The check engine light was due to the ignition coil pack being bad (cylinder 3) All four need to be replaced at once. After replacing the coil pack and plugs the check engine light went out and the hold light went out. This was an extremely easy repair. I walked my 13 year old daughter through the repair.

The second time the hold light went on was about a week ago. I now have about 52,000 miles. The light came on for no apparent reason. The only unusual thing that happened was that i accidentally spun the tires in the rain just before the light came on. The owners manual will tell you to bring it in asap because there could be serious problems. I couldn't believe i was having another major problem (there was no check engine light on this time) My guess was that the spinning of the tires could have had something to do with causing the hold light to go on and blink. What i did was disconnect the battery over night in an attempt to reset the light. It worked, i have not seen the light come back on in over a week. I drive about 50 miles a day on the highway as well as stop and go traffic. Ill call that a win.

These lights come on for a reason, if the light comes back on i will be planning on taking it in to a transmission specialist. I am not trying to say you should ignore your lights but sometimes a little effort before taking it into your mechanic can save you a bunch of money. I just wanted to share what i did with you all. Also you can have your check engine codes read my many auto part stores usually at no charge.

I would never buy another Aveo or recommend one to anyone. In my opinion they are poorly manufactured vehicles. I guess i should have guessed that any vehicle with a 3 year 36k mile warranty has such a short warranty for a reason! I hope i could help someone with my experience.

Check engine light does not come on, no trouble codes. Idles rough and sometimes will start up and will die as soon as you let off the gas. If you feather the gas and get going problem will soon correct...

Yes, very much so!!! The fuel filter is often overlooked. They should be changed every 20,000 miles, or less. I would check the air filter also. I changed one last week, that didn't look that old, and the gas coming out of it looked like milk, I did another one on an other, and the gas coming out of that one looked like black ink.

Problem started last week. sometimes engine cranks slow then fires up, other times fine. Also airbag, engine and abs lights come on sometimes when car is started. If i stop the car and then start it again...

This one I would need to have in my shop. I need to know which codes your car is throwing. If you take it to your local dealership, I will be happy to consult about the codes and the technician's recommendations.
