Question about 1996 Chevrolet Blazer

Wont start, new fuel pump

Son just bought 1996 Blazer, had the fuel pump replaced less than a month ago, was at friends house had car parked a little on a down hill slant, went to start it in the morning, acts like it wants to start but wont turn over. Put gas in carborator, started for a second blew smoke out the exhaust then shut back off. The fuel pump is less than a month old and the car had 1/2 tank of gas. Any suggestions?

We had the relay switches and the filter and was told that apparently the pump should make a noise when you first start it, and it doesnt. Should we still check all the other items?

    thank you for your help.

Thank you , we had blazer towed to where it was originally fixed, not really sure if I now trust their work. They said it is the fuel pump. What is the PMC ? Also, once we get it back, should I have someone else I TRUST to check the things you mentioned previously. to keep it from happening again. My son is using this car for college 3 hours away and I dont want it breaking down on him again. Is there something that could have caused the pump to go so fast? Thank you for all your help.

scan to see if crank sensor and cam sensor working.i remember that some cases if crank sensor dont work.pcm will disable fuel pump.if all good check or replace fuel pump wires also make oil pressure swich is working.MAKE SURE YOUR PCM IS WORKING NO BLOWED FUSES.YOUR PUMP CAN ALSO BE DEFECT FROM FACTORY.

ALSO CHECK OIL PRESSURE BY REMOVING OIL SENDING UNIT GET OIL PRESSURE GAUGE TESTER..I REMEMBER OLD SCHOOL. IF YOUR OIL PRESSURE WAS REAL LOW .THE FUEL PUMP WILL NOT COME ON.THAT WAS A SAFETY FEATURE GENERAL MOTOR USE TO KEEP FROM BLOWING THE ENGINE.YOUR OIL PRESSURE IS SUPPOSE TO BE 18 PSI AT 2000 RPMS.FOR 4.3 ENGINE. 5.7 ENGINE IS 18 PSI 2000 RPMS .THE 6.4 6.5 7.4 ENGINES 40-45 PSI 2000RPMS.

My 1996 continental has been sitting for about a year and now wont start. How do I reset the computer system to get the electronic fuel pumps to working? We are obviously not getting fuel to the car

The fuel pump passed. It developed corrosion and went out.You may be able to revive it by having some one hit the gas tank as they crank the engine.

I have a 1996 chevy blazer replaced the fuel and

No, the fuel pressure valve may be stuck open so that the fuel pressure is too low when you start up, but the pump keeps up after the engine starts...
The fuel pressure valve is draining the fuel back into the fuel tank when the Blazer is parked.

2000 chevy blazer security system making doors lock and horn blow while driving. Also wont start when less than a quarter tank of gas. Just had the fuel pressure regulator cahnged less than two months ago....

Possible malfunctioning remote control or receiver. Try removing the battery from your remote (keep it handy) or take the #2 remote instead to see if the problem persists. Right now, it could be in either one of two places. Another thought; if you have never replaced the battery in your keychain remote, it may be overdue; 13 years is even way past the 'shelf-life' of these.

My 1996 s10 blazer wont start it has new fuel pump and has spark. I changed the spider but still wont start

Like Kristisamp Said check the Fuel pump relays, they are little black box shaped fuses in the glove box, there are 3 of them, I think there may be a cover over them so you can see it......
Take the cover off and there you go......
I have a 96 blazer 2 door that had the same problem, I repalced thes relays and Bam!!! fired right up........

1999 blazer wont start??

Your battery is either faulty or ther is a parasitic drain, have it checked out at parts house. With a good battery installed, spray some starter fluid into intake housing. If it starts, then dies, you have fuel pressure/delivery problems. Can you hear the fuel pump run when you turn on the key? Hope this helps.

My 1996 blazer wont start

Time to replace the fuel filter. It's not a hard job actually. And it's a VERY common thing to go wrong. I'd change the fuel filter and then run some fuel treatment through the tank afterwards. Believe it or not, I've noticed that a nice bottle of fuel treatment really conditions a fuel filter well.

Hope this helps you out.
