SOURCE: MY GLOW PLUG LIGHT IS FLASHING IN MY DASH BOARD VW

Despite what you may read from other comments....The glow plug light is simple a multi function warning light and IS among many othed things in fact used to warn of brake light and brake light switch failure. Therefore it can NOT be treated as glow plug problems only.
I have worked on V.W for many years and have encountered this problem many times. You should get the OBD codes read. This will reveal the exact problem...and there may be more than one
You can contact your V,W agents if you wish and check to see if I am correct.
Best of luck

2006 VW Jetta code U0100

This problem is with ecu / ecm= engine control computer. These are a common and horrible problem on vw's, particularly on tdi's. The signs in a tdi are when car dash lights come on, but no glow plug light, trans gear lights flash, but car still tries to crank. And hopefully ecu has enough power to out out code u0100= no communication with ecu. Unfortunately the ecu will need to be replacd. The ecu is located under the hood, near and under the wipers. Used ecu with same codes run $50-200. New $1000. If get used one make sure has a return policy. codes must match production quarterly year.

I have a vw bora 1.9 tdi and the heater plug light has started flashing and the car says engine workshop

There are a number of different causes of this problem. Check all glow plugs. Check glow plug relay. If both are ok....This may seem unusual...Check the brake light switch situated at brake pedal. A faulty brake light switch will cause the glow plug light to flash
Good luck with it

02 VW Jetta TDI with ALH engine glow plug

this is a common problem for these cars glow plugs go bad like spark plugs however the smoke would lead to bad mass airflow meter. it is not telling ecu corrcet miss. disconnect mass airflow meter. when cold see if this makes it start better. it should would means you need new m.a.f. glow plug issue take a test light place clamp on positive of battery then pull off glow plug connectors place tip of test light on glow plug the bad one will have a dull light unlike the good one which will be brighter. will need new plugs and wire harness four **** connectors and wire striper and crimper will fix concern good luck

Loss of power, glow plug light flashes, cruise control intermittent.

Check for intake blockage (coking). May also be a bad turbo-charger actuator pod or something as easy as a Mass Airflow Meter.
