Can't remove 2007 nissan versa tail light assembly

I've removed the 10mm bolts but the assembly won't budge, even after I put pressure on the interior bolts. I understand there may be a plastic clip holding it on and I'm afraid of breaking it if I use too much pressure. Any photos of this would be great! Thanks! we are trying to replace a burned out tail light and cannot remove the assembly. Any pictures would be great.

You have to rip it out after removing the two 10 mm nuts, the catch at the front was not designed to let go until you bang it and cause the shade to break , stupidest thing I ever saw

How do you change tail light bulb on 1997 Dodge Intrepid?

In the trunk. You will find black plastic wing nuts that hold the felt panels in place, remove and pull back the panel pieces and you can now access the taillight assembly, if you can't access the bulbs from that point you need to remove the tail lights by un bolting the 10mm nuts holding the taillight assembly then remove the taillight from the car now on the outside you should be able to access the bulbs from there by turning the bulb plugs about a 1/4 to a 1/2 turn, reassemble the taillight and interior panels.

How to replace a brake light on a 2007 nissan maxima

  1. First thing you need to do is open the trunk.
  2. Remove the cargo net hooks. You do this by pulling the center out then pull the entire hook out.
  3. Now pull the carpet towards the front of the trunk (back by the rear light) back a little ways exposing.
  4. Now you will see some wire harness clips on the back of the trunk.
  5. Remove them to expose the three 10mm bolts.
  6. Remove the three 10mm bolts.
  7. Now you pull the whole light assembly out and this will expose the sockets that will allow you to change the bulbs. Unlike many cars where you have a bulb socket accessible from the trunk with this car the entire assembly must be removed.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

How do i change the stop light blub on my 2007 versa hatchback

Hi there,

Inside the trunk/hatch area, directly behind the tail light assembly, are two plastic cover plates. Remove these with a flat tool (screwdriver will work) by prying in the small ****. They pop off. Inside one you will see a nut. This is a 10mm deep socket. NOTE: This nut is very easy to lose once loosened! If at all possible use a magnetic socket. If one is not available, loosen but don't remove completely. Use a magnet to remove. In the other compartment you will see wires on a plastic holder. This holder is snapped over the nut you need to remove (note you may see two, you want the one closest to the access opening). Use a flat (screwdriver) to slip the white cover with wires off the screw post. Use a 10mm wrench to loosen, then remove by hand. From the outside, pull the lamp assembly backwards. If necessary apply a little pressure on the interior screw posts. ACCESS TO LAMPS! Reverse procedure to reinstall. Note on the exterior there is a slot at the front of the lamp assembly when reinstalling. Good Luck!

I followed the advice above but have a few details to add. I used a stick (7/8" x 5/8" x 6") to push on the bottom post and then used a flat stick, actually a paint stirring stick, as a shim between the lens and the car body. With the shim in place I then used a flat nylon strap (a dog leash) which I placed around the tip of the lens, closest to the front of the car. I put both ends of the leash in one hand in order to pull on one side and then used my finger tips on the other hand to pull on the part of the lens closest to the bumper and applied even pressure straight back until the lens popped off allowing access to the light bulbs.

Hope this helps...

Can not understand how to change tail light bulb on nissan Versa.

The whole tail light assembly must be removed.Pop out 2 plastic covers near the tail light in the trunk. inside there are 2 bolts, one at the top and one near the bottom..Use a 10mm long socket,1/4 inch, with about an 6 inch extention on it.One of the bolts ( top, is off center) I put some heavy grease in the socket to hold the nuts from falling off when they come are off,so they don't fall behind the plastic wall..After you get them off, this is the "trick to remove the whole assembly without breaking it.It is very tight and hard to remove it due to a cliip at the front ,forward part of the light assembly.on the outside front,on the fender,Squirt some WD-40 on the pointed top part of the plastic light housing, letting it run down behind the housing on the outside. It has a clip in behind it on the fender. If you don't lube it ,it is very hard to release..Now I used the open end of a 1/4 inch socket extention to push on the lower bolt, inside the trunk, and you will see that the light housing will start to come not force it.Get a piece of thin, strong string and make a loop out of it.Tuck the string behind the pointed tip of the housing,on the front part of the fender,so it will help pull the housing STRAIGHT BACK,while pushing on the bottom bolt inside of the trunk. This gives you 2 pressure points to pull and push out the housing.if you don't do them evenly,at the same time, you may end up breaking off the corner outside piece on the fender. If you bend it,it may break the plastic.
I know this sounds complicated when you first read this, but it WILL work, without damaging the tail light housing !!!
The dealer would probably charge you at least $ 50 to $75 to do this job.I am from Canada and I hate the Nissan dealerships. They don't want you to do ANY maintenance by yourself...

How do I change the back stop light

in the trunk or the 3rd brake light? trunk: remove the carpet cover, then 10mm bolts or wing nuts, pull tail light assembly out, twist bulb to remove. 3rd light. lay on your back in the trunk, locate and remove 2 10mm nuts, crawl into back seat pull up on housing. there will be a long plastic tab that will prevent you from pulling the housing all the way out, you can cut this and make this procedure easier, or remove the entire hat rack.

How to remove the tail lights from a 2003 murano

Here's the step by step procedure from the beginning.
  1. Carefully remove the black one inch wide plastic molding strip that runs along the interior side of the tail light. This can be pried off carefully without breaking the plastic clips that hold it in place.
  2. Using a 10mm socket, remove the two bolts that you see which secure the tail light housing.
  3. The tail light housing is also held in place with three or four plastic clips which can be broken rather easily if you don't do this next step carefully. Begin prying the plastic tail light using a plastic putty knife or screwdriver. The top clip comes out pretty easily and so does the bottom one.
  4. On a cold winter day, the middle clip is the one that can break rather easily so gently rock the tail light or wait for warm weather when the plastic isn't brittle.
  5. Once the tail light "bucket" is removed it's a simple matter to replace the bulbs.
