Question about 1993 Ford Escort 4 Door
The car wants to crank but can not it does try to turn over and can do so for a split second then shuts off husband seems to think it is timing belt please help me
1. Does motor turn over faster than normal?
2. Remove distributor cap so the rotor is visible and then try to start it, does the rotor move at all?
When a timing belt breaks the motor will turn easier than normal as it is building no compression which is why I asked if it spins faster when trying to start it.
If the ignition rotor fails to turn during your inspection this is because the belt has failed and is failing to turn the camshaft on these cars.
