Question about 1998 Land Rover Discovery
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR CAR IS NOT IDLING.CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AND IDLE AIR BY PASS BEFORE ,THEN I THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE TO A DEALER TO RESET ADOPTATION AND RESET YOUR IDLE. I DON'T KNOW WHY BUT GEMS VEHICLE DID THAT FROM TO TIME.(1996-1999,PRE BOSCH)

May have faulty fuel pump relay ,try with other relay

Check the Fuel injector button on the top back left of engine. I had this happen over the weekend and paid a tow truck guy $300 to tow it back and he got it back to running by pushing the button back down and checking the fuel filter fuse on the left side of the engine. Hope this helps!

Fuel fiter is clogged and maybe the the injection nozzles too
