Question about 2000 Hyundai Elantra
Have you checked your brake lights? are they working? most cars have a safety feature that require a signal from brake lights (by stepping on brake pedal) to activate a relay to disengage the shifter interlock, OR can you move the gear selector into gear, and it just won't move? is it an automatic or stick shift ? If it's an automatic start the car, after it has ran for 5 - 10 minutes check the trans fluid dipstick, it should have fluid level between add / full marks , if not add or remove fluid as necessary. If is a manual trans, it is possible the clutch is bad. need more info on vehicle, how many miles? engine size?
