Question about 2000 Nissan Maxima

Car won't start sometimes

My car won't start sometimes. I can start up in the morning and drive to work. Start in the evening to drive home. All okay. However, if I make a few stops along the way. After about the second or third startup, it won't start again. Once this happened after the car sat for about 20 minutes it started. Another time after about 5-8 minutes it started. I put a new starter on about a year and a half ago. The battery is good.

After I posted this today, my car would not start at all, once we tapped the starter, it would start. I had one year left on my warranty on my starter. I took it back and they tested it and sure enough it was bad. It was not engaging. They replaced it at no charge. It only cost me the time to replace and a little aggravation, getting into the tight space to replace it. Thanks

Have a 1999 Lincoln. runs fine but sometimes it won,t start even though it cranks just fine. Let it set for a few hours and it starts just like it should?

It could be your fuel pump or your ignition module? I had a similar problem with my car in that it would start okay in the morning and after I drove to work and tried to start it again, it would not start until a few hours went by? I had the ignition module checked at Autozone and it was bad, replaced it and that was it, at least in my case. But you get the same symptoms with a fuel pump that is going bad?

2007 impala won't start sometimes

The most likely problem is a failed safety switch in the transmission. It will only allow the engine to turn over when in "neutral", or "Park". Next time it happens try moving the transmission selector through the full range of travel a couple of times. If this cures the problem, you may need new switch.

My Jimmy is having a hard time starting, sometimes it dosen't.

Sounds like your problem might be with the VATS anti theft system. Does your truck have the chip in the key? If so you might just need the ignition lock cylinder changed out. There are 2 very small wires that run from the lock cylinder down the column and plug in under the dash. After time the wires insulation will get brittle and crack. The wires read the resistance of the diode chip that is in the key and send the signal to the VATS computer witch tells the ECM weather to send the signal to the fuel pump or not. On a cold moist morning the resistance signal can be interrupted or the resistance lever raised enough for the computer to get an improper signal. Your vehicle is thinking that an improper key is being used to try and start the vehicle. A replacement lock cylinder can be purchased for around $80 at your local part store and you will need to take your current key and the new cylinder to a lock smith to have the pins in the new cylinder changed to fit your current key. This way all of your current keys will still work the vehicle instead of having to pay $40 for each new key. Anyway, after you have the new cylinder working with you old key simply take it in to have it changed out, shouldn't take any competent mechanic with the right tools more than an hour to change out.

I have a 1997 dodge avenger es 2.5 liter here's

Check the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator for any sign of gas being sucked into the line. A failed regulator will let extra gas get into the engine. If it's okay, have the fuel pressure checked. That's sure a lot of gas, way too much for the engine. Good luck.

Sounds like the alternator is going out the slow way.
Youre kinda lucky because almoat all alternators go out without warning.
Most Autozone shops or places like it will run a test for free.
Good luck,Gary
