1993 lexus LS 400 speedometer works sometimes

The sensor was changed but that did not help. Sometimes the speedometer works, and sometimes it does not. It will work for a few hours and then stop working. i have a 1991 lexus ls 400 and the speedometer has stop working. when u are stop the needle is all the way down past 0 but when u get to fourth gear 2,000 rpms the needle rises not all the way too 0 but close? please help

Sound like the fan is not spinning, possible the fan bearing is shot. You will need to replace the blower unit

1992 SC300 Speedometer doesn't read accurately. Can it be calibrated?
No however the speed sensor can be replaced.

A couple of things can throw off the speedo, Tire diamete size, did you go a size up? this will make the speed show slower that you are actually moving. If you did, then it's working correctly. you will just have to make a mental note of the change or go back to the original size.

Hi...the needle assembly at the speedometer is faulty. Because your dash instrument is all electronics with no cables or moving parts attached, your whole instrument needs to be placed....hope this helps.
