Question about 1995 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
I opened my convertible e class roof with the electric bottom and raised the anti roll head rest at the back as i was driving on the motorway. Got to friend's yard bought two doors which i wanted to carry on the back seat. Friend took off the back seat and a few modules were exposed; he identified one as the air bag module ( silver metal with an inscription of ''do not remove written on it'') and in doing so quickly unplugged it and then plugged it back. When i tried to raise the soft top roof, it wouldn't raise back the soft top to close the anti roll head rest cannot roll down as well. All the electric bottons come on and made sound but don't work. Played around/coordinated the front latches with central locking, and basically did everything but the roof stays down. Have stayed down since Saturday and i have no garage or off road storage. Desparate for help. Don't know if when friend disconnected the module this may have srambbled the module or ECU. Urgent help needed please!!!
It is never a good idea to unplug your modules with the key on you definitely can damage them. Hope fully your windows are not synchronized. See if the express mode up works. Try holding the button in the first detent and raise window and hold for 5 seconds. next see if the windows work with the 1 touch operation. It is possible that the module you unplugged stores the synch for that feature. The soft top module must know the window position in order to operate. Also there is a sliding cover that must be retracted in your trunk in order to operate top. The switch in the cover has to be depressed to let module know that there is nothing in they way of the top operation. Hopefully I have been helpful.
