No juice to ac compressor

Just bought a 96 deville. computer reads service ac system compressor off. Took it to my mechanic. He said it looks like someone probed all the wires to get rid of the code. also said the wires probably weren't put back right. worked on it for approx 2 hrs. cannot get any juice to the compressor, please help wires were messed with. they are having a problem finding the wires to get any juice at all to the compressor to even see if there is anything wrong with it. system is full of freon. he also feels that if the system is full compressor is probably is ok. said even a new compressor wouldn't even help him. said it is all the wiiring. Please help. Thaks Ozzie

Im working on a1988 Cadilac deville , replaced ac compressor , accumlator , orfus tube . i also vaccumed the system , reset computer . started car filled with 134a . worked fine till i drove for bout 1mi ....

Your have a low refrigerant level. Econ staying on and service ac will stay on too. Sounds like you didnt put enough r134a in the system. How much r134a did you add? Capacity is 38 ounces(thats
with R12), and a bit less than that for r134a.

My ac went out on my 98 cadi deville a few month ago. It just tells us low refridge. we tried to put some more in and the gage to fill it up says it is still full. but since then my econ/vent; heater; rear...

on those caddys you disconnect the battery and wait a few seconds and reconnect and it will reset ac system. when it goes into service mode the system just shuts down. the battery procedure is how to reset. when the ac compressor is not engaging you will not get an accurate reading on your gauges. it might be low but the compressor must be engaged for the system to take more freon.

Ac only cools when accelerator is pressed. when sitting in idle traffic, only blows warm air. had ac recharged, doesn't help.

I have same issue. I took to Chevy dealer they could not find problem (whats new) then I took to trusted mechanic.
They measured voltage at compressor and found out when idle the voltage dips below manufacturer specs, then when RPMS go up it gets more juice so the compressor then starts to work properly.
Chevy claims its made that way to extend compressor life.

Sounds like the some issue I have with my Mom's 96 Cav. No Cmprsr

I would check the freon level in the AC system. The computer looks at the voltage from the pressure switch in order to activate the compressor clutch. If the voltage is not in the right range the computer will not turn on the compressor and in turn will not turn on the cooling fan. It is set up this way in order to prevent damage to the AC compressor. I would almost bet that the system is low and may have a small leak. Your local mechanic can check it for you and correct the charge level as needed.

Same problem - flaky A/C 96 deville concours

too much freon is the same as not enough, you should buy a set of gauges to fill your system.

95 Deville - Low Refridgerant/AC Comp. off

To diagnose problems, an A/C manifold gauge set is needed to read high and low side pressure readings. Avoid adding refrigerant with a simple charging kit like the ones sold at parts stores. Don’t add any stop leak, this can cause problems in the compressor, expansion valve or condenser.
Keep in mind that using an A/C gauge set and seeing BOTH high and low side readings can help in diagnosing the problem when you know what to look for. First, on a 134A system the high and low side service ports are different sizes. AC gauge sets have color coded hoses, the blue color coded hose has a connection that fits on the low side service port and the red hose has a connection that will only fit onto the high side. The yellow hose won’t hook up to anything if just checking the readings; it can be used to connect to a vacuum pump or attached to a refrigerant can or tank.

Normal readings on high and low side with AC OFF (static pressure) - Depends on outside temperature, but normally is between 80-105 PSI
Normal low side reading with AC on high speed and MAX & engine at 800-1000 RPM’s - Ranges from 25-35 PSI - Note that on many Chrysler products a normal reading on the low side may be 15-25 PSI
Normal high side reading ranges from 200-350 PSI

Don’t assume that if adding little Freon is good that adding a lot is better!  Overcharging just a little can decrease the performance of the system and possibly damage the compressor.

Both low and high side readings are lower than normal, this indicates a cars AC system is low on refrigerant and is under-charged.
If both low and high side readings are too high, this indicates an overcharged system - too much refrigerant. This also can indicate that the condenser fan is not working, is too slow or the car is overheating and heat is transferring from the radiator to the condenser.

Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted be glad to answer any question you may have. And yes the A/C system on your car uses R143a and there is a A/C pressure switch along the low pressure line or on the accumulator, it looks like a oil pressure sensor with a two wire lead cliped on it.

Hi,check if the compressor clutch is engaging,if not check the conection at the compressor if ok check, fuse ,or relay ,if those are fine and the commpressor is engaging, check freon presure ,may be too high or low, if this is the case ,correct the problem and disconect the negative cable from the battery for a minute to reprogram the sistem..C1
