Hi,

The average price for your model would be around 300-500 bucks.

Thanks.

What is better to rebuild an engine or buy a used and how much cost to do this any aprox. In price

You are better off rebuilding the engine if you intend to keep the car, the engine may last far longer if it is looked after and there are no unforeseen incidents. If you are selling a car then fitting a used engine can be cost effective, if you shop around wisely you can find a good engine for a reasonable price. Some buy salvage/donor cars to sort their own vehicle out from insurance auctions/salvage sales.
Rebuilding is usually more expensive but I would far rather have a rebuilt engine than a used one.
The thing with used units is that you cannot usually tell how well they have been maintained.
The choice is yours

I own a 2004 jetta gli. 2 piston stopped working. When changing the sparkplugs noted oil on of them. Pistons 1 and 4 still not working.

Hello,

Yes this is a major problem. What I mean by that is, when ever you pull a plug and there is heavy oil on them, it comes from only two places. Head gasket seal is leaking where it comes down and seeps on to your plugs or your rings gasket is shot, so the oil is getting past your rings and getting on your plugs. Point is this, sense you have pistons that stopped working, you for sure need a ring job, and looks like a piston/ring job, this I hate to say it is a top engine rebuild. Point is, you can't just fix part, it is not going to work for longevity. You would need at least the top end rebuilt, that is where they bore out chambers, new pistons, rings, head gasket and so forth. This can be costly, guess on average top end rebuild can run at average shop 1,500 plus. For sure get at least 3 prices if you decide to have it done. Sometimes your better to get a new rebuild and have it put in, with your engine as part trade for new rebuild. Because normally, if you rebuild top end and not the bottom, then that is on borrowed time. I hate to give the bad news, but that is where it looks like what you need. Mike

What is the average cost for spark plugs & wires installed on a 1997 Dodge Caravan?

Every repair shop will be slightly different in price

Do you not have a shop you frequent several times
a year?

Never ask a repair shop for an average or ballpark
price,they hate that.

Wires should last the life of the vehicle

Your wasting money to replace them

The only time they should be replaced, is at
10 years or more & only if they have been mishandled
over the years or an oscilloscope is used to determine
you have ignition problems & wires may help

My transmission just went out..Is it better to rebuild, buy new, or used one?

What were your plans for the car before the tranny went? If you were planning to keep the car and continue driving it for some time then your best bet would be to get your transmission rebuilt. Buying a new one is very expensive and reputable shops can rebuild to as good as new. Beware the shop who's price is a lot lower than the competition. A proper rebuild will cost close to same whereever you go, the shop you chose should be based on warranty and service, not necessarily just on price. Call around in the Yellow Pages before ypou pick one. All shops can tell you a ballpark price for rebuilding a tranny, they don't need to take it apart first.
If you were planning on getting rid of the car in the near future then a good used one from a salvage yard would probably be the best bet. It's pretty hard to sell a car that won't run. A decent yard will give you at least a 30 day warranty that the transmission works. They won't cover the cost of replacement, if it becomes necessary. If you get a low mileage one it may last you a long time but you can't always tell. For sure, if you go that route then change the filter and gasket BEFORE you put it in. This will give you some indication as to the condition of it. There will be a certain amount of shavings in the oil but a lot of them or actual metal chips are bad news and you should take it back and get it replaced.
A good used transmission will be about half the price of a rebuild. Hope this helps.

How much is a new or used engine going to cost ? 1.6 liter V-tech engine for an Honda Civic 1997 ?

$1000 for good used low milage engine. Anywhere for $3000-$4000 ffor a new one, at least. Jasper's have remanufactured motors, 3 year/30,000 miles, at bit less than new.

Full speaker wiring replacement

Sorry, not a good solution. I'm afraid the price range varies from car stereo shop to stereo shop, and the locale of where your at. There is no way to give you an accurate answer.

I invite you to call around, or stop in various car stereo shops that do this for a living, and see what the best average is.

How much would it cost for a new V8 engine for a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Depending who does the work in your area, a rebuilt engine with labor maybe in the $2,500 range. Best to call around your local auto shops for a more accurate price.

Approximate cost of a rebuilt engine for a Ford F 100 Pickup .. its a straight 6

Cost depends on who you buy it from and what they put into their rebuilds. (what is new, what has been cleaned and re-used?) One thing I can tell you is to stay away from anything built by ATK...I've seen too many of their engines fail because they were assembled incorrectly. Ballpark figure should run between $1800 and $3000 depending on what you buy.

Pistons?? i have two that went through to the oil pan........i think that is what it is. Prices please for repair. Even a good estimate.

The average engine replacement is around $500.00 for labor and plus the cost of the rebuilt engine. You do have a 10 year old truck and may be cheaper to find an other cherokee the same year with a good motor and bad body and have a shop do an engine swap. The average rebuilt engine is $19,000 to $23,000 in Ontario Canada, your going to have to call around your area for prices, then you can decide on which way you'll like to get your cherokee running again. Good luck and keep me posted.
