1995 chevrolet truck.. blinker problem??

I got a 1995 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup... the blinkers do not work

I replaced the bulbs.. and the flasher/relay for both the hazards and the blinkers.

I discovered a blown fuze.... so I replaced the fuze and now when I turn the key on the blinkers work-- but the fuze gets very hot and I start to smell a burning plastic smell coming from around my heater/ac controls

I have already replaced the relay.. and even tried the old one again and it does the same thing... where is the short? what else is on that circuit?

The question you asked, cannot simply be answered in a few sentences on here. This is not to dissuade you from using this website, nor is it to simply brush your question aside. I want to give you the best possible solution. (Besides, you might give me a good rating!)

Wiring is complex for a vehicle. There is over a Mile of wiring! One circuit connects to another circuit, and possibly another circuit, and winds up going to the fuse block, then the battery. (Some circuits do not go to the fuse block)

It is for this reason that I suggest you obtain a wiring diagram for your truck. I don't know if the off the shelf manuals sold at auto parts stores will have them for your truck, or not. You can go to Autozone.com, join, and find your truck.
(Not pushing Autozone!)
After you find the year, maker, model, engine, then go to the Repair Guides.

From there click on Chassis Electrical, then on the left click on Wiring Diagrams.
You have to trace the circuits down.
No sir! It is NOT easy! Many a mechanic will shy away from wiring problems!

Use a multimeter first, (Your local auto parts store should have a cheap one available), and start with continuity checks. (Multimeter is set to OHM's) Then you can check for power. (DC set to the 0-50 volt scale)

Tip from me:
1.I have found that after a circuit has overloaded, and replacing a fuse doesn't help, (Such as in your case), that you need to check the Junction Block connector. The wiring harness that is in the engine compartment, and goes to your firewall, that Black rectangular piece of plastic is the Junction Block. It connects to the Fuse Panel inside the drivers compartment firewall.

Often times, one or more pins in the Junction Block are touching, due to the block has melted. This makes a short to other pins.

I have a 1996 chevy s-10pick-up truck my blinkers are not working 4-way flashers are ok,fuses are ok,light bulbs are ok.where is the relays or flasher?


Flashers are generally located either under the dash (they hide them behind the horizontal panel) under the hood in the fuse box.

Also, relays can be hidden under the hood or in the fuse box.

The interior fuse box is where the 'turn signal' fuse is located.

Have a 1988 chevy truck; blinkers don't work. fuses are good, bulbs good. don't have power coming from fuse panel. flasher relay has been replaced


did u change the correct flasher?there are 2 flashers,the regular turn signal one and the 4way flashers,make sure u changed the right one,,,

Blinker switch has been changed and bulbs have been checked wiring has been checked, flasher has been changed hazards work front and rear but when you turn blinkers on they don't work.


Flasher relay under the dash needs replaced. Go to auto store buy a new one. Unplug old one and insert new one. If that doesnt do the trick it is probably the column stalk for the blinker needs replaced.

1989 chevy 1/2 ton.brake lights or emergency flashers dont work.tail lights an blinkers work.


The Blinkers and the Brake Lights are the same bulb. So check the brake light switch. Flashers use a different flasher unit, than the turn signals

89 Toyota Pickup right turn signal doesnt work just buzzes


check all bulbs,inspect sockets for corrosion,rust ,or sighns of overload.follow wires and check connectors if all good ,replace the flasher ,,if that doesnt fix it ,the blinker switch in the steering coulmn would be next

Blinkers don't work even when I replaced the fuse


1st have you fixed the short that caused the fuse to blow? If you did or it was a trailer wiring shor then replace the flasher module, that is the most likely cause of the present problem.
