Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Jeep door hinges

Any one out there heard of a problem with hinges letting go on a jeep? My passenger door hinges did! I heard that altough they were not recalled, Jeep acknowleges a problem and sometimes will fix it -- I filled out a form at the dearlership, but I would like to hear if this truly has been a problem to someone else other than me. I can't believe that Chrysler has not made a recall!! Here I am thinking someone tried to break into my 1994 Jeep Cherokee, and it's my hinges? I was told it would run about 5-6 hundred to repair!! This is horrible. I'm gonna contact Chrysler.

Pls start with checking the fuses.
The wires between the driver's door and the body are likely to get broken. If the fuses are ok, try to remove the boot near the door hinge. What you're looking for is a thick black wire which I heard many times is the culprit in such situations.

problem is not related. the wire harness in the drivers door [**** rarely passenger door] has one or more broken wires inside that rubber belows in between the door hinges.

2001 jeep cherokee only has heat on passenger side

The dual blend door module is broken at the hinge. There is a revised part available at the dealer. You'll need to remove and open the ac/heater housing to replace it. To remove the housing, you'll need to lower the steering column and remove the instrument panel assembly. It's not an easy job but it can be done in your driveway if you have plenty of time and patience. I hope this helps.

check the wires that run from the door to the body near the hinges. they always break inside that rubber boot.

94 jeep cherokee door troubles

from the late 80's to the 90's jeep cherokees have a known problem with there front door hinges. the first time i seen this on a jeep i thought it was a fluke but now owning a 93 cherokee i am goin through the same problem... most of the time its not the door pins (i am not saying this is not what is wrong with yours, but for the most part it is not the pins). on the inside of the sheet metal, where the door hinges are welded onto, tend to rust/wear out and cause up and down play in the top door hinge. the only way to fix it is to take the door off and reweld a new brace or support underneath the sheet metal, and the weld the door back into place... my jeep is goin threw this process right now... but if you dont fix the door soon it will acually rip the top door hinge out of place, allowing the door to almost touch the ground when opened.
