Car stuck accelerating

I was driving my 2004 Dodge Stratus today. When I went to stop at a light, the car would not stop accelerating when I let off the gas pedal. Had to slam on breaks and use emergency break to get it to stop. The gas pedal was not stuck.

Check the throttle cable to the the throttle body and check to see if the throttle body is sticky or stuck.
Make sure the throttle blade in the throttle body moves freely and returns to the close position without any problem.
A good spray of throttle body cleaner to the throttle body inside and out would not hurt and a spray of WD40 on the out side where you see the return spring to the throttle body blade would not hurt after you cleaned it.
Keep me posted, glad to help.
