Question about 2007 GMC Envoy Denali
Yesterday my suv would not start when turning the key over I would have to restart then it would fire no problem ran fine. no lights nothing. today it would not start restarted nothing restarted finally then ran crappy would not go over 30 mph. the engine lights were on at that point took it in to a shop that was open and the guy pulled the codes 1682 and 2176 but told me he was not able to fix my vehicle due to lack of knowledge on such a complex computer system. had vehicle towed to another shop. just concerned I don't know anything about the shop it is now at and would like to have some idea of what could be wrong now. Thank you for your time. and you help.
The p1682 code is an ignition 1 control circuit code. The p2176 is related to the throttle body. There is a bulletin fron GM on the wiring being rubbed through on the front drive shaft. Have the shop check there first. The first code sounds like a voltage issue, possible ignition switch. Both may be covered under the 100,000 power train warranty. You should call your dealer first to see. Good Luck

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.
When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.
