Question about 1999 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

Elevtrical troubles...BCM? I have a 1999 Grand caravan. There are no turn signals (but the flashers work), the abs light is on and the blower does not turn on (burn when selecting direction you can here that servo turning). I have tries to replace the flasher relay with no luck and no just replaced the BCM with no luck (one i got from ebay and was supposedly tested). All of the symptoms have remained. Does anyone have another idea? I don't have money to take it to the repair shop so I'm trying to do the best I can to track it down.

I did verify that it was the same part number on the BCM and same options. Would i still need to check with the dealer?

It is your BCM. A used module cannot be used in most cars today. They are vehicle specific, and need to be programmed as such. Go to the dealer and get them to verify with old BCM, and see what they say.

They all have the same part number. Not all of them are programmed the same. VIN numbers and mileages and options need to be input.

Sounds like the turn signal flasher (lighting control module). It is used for both the turn signals and the hazard flashers. There is one type for cars with DRL and one for cars without DRL.

Have no signal lights. Have replaced the switch (arm) once and again they aren't working. Not sure if its a fuse or a bad part.

I would check the fuse and the signal flasher fuse as well which should be a round ond if equiped with one. Hope this helps.

On my 1998 Grand Caravan, the ABS light has come on and I know that I need to replace the front brake pads as I heard them squeeling this weekend but also now the front blower stopped working for the AC...

The ABS light is most likely a bad Wheel Speed Sensor.

The Blower is most likely a Blower Resistor that rusted away. You should have a couple of blower speeds left.

The directional issues are the third problem

Work on one thing at a time.

You may want to try pulling connections off BCM (body control module) and cleaning them with contact spray cleaner or similar & re-installing. Sometimes you'll get lucky & this will cure it, without replacing BCM.70846a5.gif
