Car all of a sudden started running rough and smell of burning

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM SE. Do they have problems with iginition module? Car all of a sudden starting boggins and running rough. You could smell something burning. The engine light came on then started flashing.

No i have grand am gt no problems sounds it may have a internal problem

you are having a miss fire, that meant one of your engine is not running. you need to check to see if you need to replace plugs. wires or ignition coil

We have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am Se. The car started to idle rough for 1st 15 secs then was fine. It is now getting progressively worse. Idles rough and chugs until engine reaches approximately 176 degrees,...


If this car uses an electrically heated O2 sensor, the heater portion may be bad. If the car has a lot of miles, the O2 sensor may be getting bad also.

Engine falls below 500rpm lights dim and engine stalls out


I had a bad air conditioner compressor that caused this same problem. It had almost completley seized and gave the car some real trouble starting. The burning smell I had was caused from the belt rubbing around the seized pully.

try jumping again and feel the postive cable the red one to see if it gets hot if it dose its probably the starter ..the burning smell could be the cable getting hot.
