someone stated if the ground wire came off by the struts it causes the bearings to pit?? SURE ENOUGH the wire was broke, just put struts on and the bearings were pitted beyond believe. Almost welded to the spindles. Got all races and bearings off. Tommorrow hope to get parts. Thanx all. Someone should put a good diagram of the bearings and races in the hub?

john, this could be the bearings in the hub end of the short shaft, the brake rotor, or the brake pad. I own a 2001 and have had this problem. It was the rotor, I don't know why they treat brakes like they do but I changed both rotors, and changed the struts while I was there. Hope this helps.
I know this website www.reliable-store.com that i get manuals from, and they have all models online that solve all simple/technical problems like professionals
I also brought for my 1989 BMW, such old model, they had it and it was very good manual. Go ahead, I bet.
you might have some wire toughing the ground rabbing when put it in reverse the eng shiftting causing wires to stretch and might touching ground or hot wire
You have disc brakes on the front. Check you local library for a Chiltons or Hayes repair manul for step-by-step instructions on how to replace pads and check your rotors for abnormal wear
I would first rule out the possibility of a "rough" tire making the
noise. You can move the two front tires to the rear of the vehicle and
see if that changes the noise any. If it does, you might have a worn
tire that needs replacing or a tire that has worn unevenly and should
be rotated and balanced more often....
