so the car does not run ? it is possible you broke a rod and it went out through the back of the block were all you oil is going. If engine does run it could be just a valve cover gasket leaking.

wich engine do you have and does engine run or not?

How to change engine oil in subaru wrx

First off before you do anything locate and know where your oil pan is and your oil filter. Your pan will be accessed from under the car and will have about a 9/16 bolt on it. That is your oil pan drain. Find your filter which will be most likely on the front right of the engine. Get a pan under the oil pan plug, take off your oil cap in the engine, and unscrew the drain plug. As it is draining take off your oil filter with a filter wrench. You will most likely want something to set the filter in when you loosen it (it is full so keep it upright as possible) Let it drain until all is out, replace the filter, put the plug back in and fill with the recommended amount of oil. Turn it on for about 15 seconds and then off. Check for leaks at the plug and filter and tighten if needed. The filter does not get "cranked down". Don't forget to put your cap back on the top side and you are done. Before you close the hood check to make sure the oil level is in operating range marked on the stick.

Check engine light is on and the car runs rough at idle only. There is also a burning smell when I exit the car coming from under the hood. What could be the issues?

have a parts store pull code, to see what sensors r at fault, tps throttle position sensor may need adjust, oxygen sensor needs replaced, may have two ? both need replaced. gas cap might b faulty ? in any event, the trouble code must b cleared out from computer, after repaired is made. if engine light comes back on, reclear it. sometimes intermittant sensor problems occur, engine light comes back on. well, the gas we buy with ethanol is killing our engines, put some fuel stabilizer in @ next fuel up. but try some fuel injector cleaner first, winter gums up injectors, soooo ! fuel filter replacement is always in need, people don\'t get it, replace all filters, air, fuel, oil, get it ? maintenance is a necessary evil. u change yur clothes ever day, right ? well, same thing., good luck, ken

We need to know if the radiator has an enigine oil cooler in it so we know which one to buy

if you get under the car on the driver side were the oil filter is and look were the filter screw onto the motor,if you see 2 large lines coming from the plate that the filter screws onto going to the front of the motor and attach to the lower rad then you have an engine oil cooler in the radiator.there will be lines that come from the transmission to the radiator that are considerably smaller.

Hi i have a 1994 dodge caravan it is leaking oil can this be fix im worry that we would have to save money for a van for my kids thanks

The Chrysler minivan products all had leaking problems. I have had 5 or 6 different Dodge or Plymouth minivans from 88 to 99. How bad is it. The most common thing is Valve cover leaks. Front and rear seals in the engine leak as well as the oil pan gasket. If its leaking a little bit at a time open the hood and look at the front and rear of the engine. Do you see grease and oil that has gone down the sides of the engine? Do you see a lot of grease on the engine with some clean streaks going through it. You may be able to see where its leaking from. If you know someone that knows what their doing have them change the leaky gasket/s. If not you can probably have it repaired for less than buying another van unless other things are seriously wrong with the van.
Hope this helps... Dale

Big oil puddles in drive under car. 1 1/2 quarts low between oil changes. Looked under car and oil is mostly on back part of engine. ?

You should get it up in a hoist and look at lower side of engine. Could be rear seal or something as simple as valve cover gasket leaking. It's probably a simple gasket that needs replacing but don't put it off, leaks don't fix themselves they only get worse.

Plugs in 93 taurus SHO need replacing, need to know where they are located and how to replace them

spark plugs that have not been replaced for a long time, should be sprayed with penetrating oil and let it soak in for a week. Then have a tech with an impact wrench, vibrate it back and forth, a little bit in each direction until they come out. Then put anti-seize on the threads of the new plugs.

Or, you will be pulling the heads to install helicoils. Ouch!

Change the oil on a 2000 Dodge Caravan

Jack up pass side.Put cardboard, BIG piece under engine just in case. Using a pan to drain the oil in put under oil pan drain plug. Remove drain plug with socket wrench. Let drain 5 min. Check the gasket on the drain plug, if bad replace with new gasket .99 cents to replace gasket only on plug. Put plug back in DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN the plug. Slide drain pan with drained oil to the front to remove oil filter. Using a filter wrench remove oil filter. Let drain. When installing new filter put a little new engine oil on the rubber gasket on the filter with your finger. Screw filter back on tighten with filter wrench. Fill van with oil from front valve cover opening.

Oil geting on flywheel an starter, burning oil like crazy

willie05: sounds to me like you have a leaking rear main oil seal.
If the oil is dripping out at the bottom of the motor and appears to be sourced from where the back of the engine and the front of the transmission mate together, that is your problem. Sometimes if the leak has been going on for a while, the under side of the engine and transmission may be covered with oil because of the wind turbulence caused by the car in motion had been blowing it all over the under side. It may take you washing the under side if the motor off or getting it done, to spot the leak more easily.
A valve cover gasket leak will also cause oil to run dow the back of the motor. However, it usually won't get on the flywheel.
Good Luck. Let me know how things turn out.
