Question about 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse

1 Answer

02 Eclipse; heater doesn't work; wet floor inside; coolant drip

Mitsubishi Eclipse 2002 the floorboard on the drivers side is sopping wet. AC is working fine, but more and more water is puddling up. what is wrong? how do i fix it? does anyone know how to fix this... this shop i take my car to is telling me its my heating core and its gonna cost 1300 dollars to fix! I first noticed my heater wasn't working well. Then when I tried to defrost my windshield it wouldn't work either, and there was a gradual buildup of residue on the glass. This turned out to be steam from the antifreeze. After this I noticed my floors were getting wet, and there is a regular leak under the car when I park after driving at all. The air-conditioner does however work fine, and all the fans are working as well.

Your heater matrix has fractured.Suolution fit new matrix.Or you can have it bypassed. But you want get any warm air from the heater if its bypassed. But it will stop the water entering inside your car.

Use a white paper and get a sample of the fluid on the driver side door.

Check the color.

Is it look similar to the coolant or window washer fluid?

Try feeling the floorboards inside the car for any wetness. It sounds like your heater core may be your problem. When they start to leak they can go unnoticed as the coolant goes down to your floor pans and running out anywhere it finds a place to. If you have been having issues with low heat I would bet this is your problem.

Floorboard on drivers side stays wet no matter what the weather is. It's only wet on the bottom, not on the sides.

Sounds like there is a leak in a hose... take a look under the centre console for the heater matrix, it's a smaller radiator that heats the car interior! do you need to top up the coolant level at all?

02 Mitsubishi Eclipse heater gets hot only when in motion

Does your engine temperature guage read normal? Have you checked your coolant level? This can be the result of a partially seized thermostat... there is also a valve in the heater core lines that can seize partially closed. As the engine speed increases, the water pump can force more water through the partially closed component.

Where is the heater core located on the 2002 Volvo S60?

There may be a clogg in the drain for your air condition. Or the drain for the water coming off of the windshield (on the bottom where the wiper blades are, may be clogged with leaves or debris. To check take a hose or alot of water and pour on windshield then look to see if it drips inside on the driver floor. To check if its an Ac drain leak turn AC on and run for a while and check to see if the mat is wet or water is dripping on floor mat. Good Luck
