With not knowing any other details than you say hear, 40 to45# hot going down the road, and around 15 to 20# at idle.

Where do I put oil in this thing? New to me '91 6.2

what kind of oil are you putting in? Engine oil, or transmission fluid? Engine oil should be on one of the valve covers or there will be an oil filler neck. Trans fluid you add in the trans stick

Oil pressure drops to zero at idle on 2002 GMC Envoy after engine warms up

You could have three possable problems that I can think of. 1) Your oil viscosity is too low and you need to change it to a higher level. A 5w/30 or 10w/30 oil may thin out too much when it warms up to normal temp and shows low on your gauge. 2) The preasure relief valve is partially open due to a small piece of debris caught under the seat. Unscrew the oil filter and look at the small disk that is near the threded part on the filter base. Theres a spring behind it to keep it closed so all the oil goes into the engine and not bypass back into the oil pan. Push up on it slightly with a small tip screw driver and see that it fully seats in the hole, put a new filter on, and try it. 3) If these two things don't improve the condition, get a socket for taking the oil preasure sender off and get a oil preasure gauge to test the actual oil preasure the engine is producing. You may have a weak pump in the engine. If the preasure is within good specs, I'd change the sender unit with a new one.
Let me know what happened-

I have a 97 Pontiac Sunfire GT 2.4 DOHC that I just completed the head gaskets on due to major external leakage, now that is done though I have an low oil pressure light on! I can't for the life of me...

when doing headgaskets on thses it is very important that no debri falls into oil hole when cleaning or dissamebleming, also the headgaskets were installed correctly!!. check the preasure with the gauge and go from there,if it does have low preasure then something may have gotten into oil system, also you did change the oil after head job. if oil preasure is low and theres no knocking from engine then put a oil pump in in, most of the time its a bad oil preasure switch.good luck

I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0L engine. The oil pressure gauge usually stays around 40 on the highway but when I come to a stop it drops down to 10. Is this normal or is my oil pump getting ready...

No this is normal. As an engine wears then oil preasure will be less this is not due to a weak oil pump but wear in crank shaft bearing's. When an engine is new and bearings are tight then oil preasure wont fall a lot from reved up to idle as the engine wear's oil escapes quicker from the crank shaft bearings. Reved up oil preasure increases idle it drops off. If the oil light stays out then their is enough preasure to lubricate the engine. In fact in an older engine high oil preasure is a worse complaint as this means the oil system is clogging. All is ok with your pump. If the oil preasure is moving up and down at constant rev.'s then the oil pump is faulty. Hope this put's your mind to rest.

Oil light flashing occasionally

It could be a faulty oil sending unit, but it would be advisable to have the oil preasure checked with a mechanical guage to determine if it is a sending unit or low oil preasure. Oil preasure low enough to allow the light to come on is low enough to possibly cause major engine damage.
