well we have that ground wire hooked up and like i had a couple other people look at it and they said it was hooked up right but how it was hooked to the radio there was like a wire to plug into a hole with like a lot of tiny holes and like one that hooked up into his a antenna slot and than there is another one that looks kinda like it but it is smaller and wont fit in there and if we take the one that we put in the antenna slot the radio turns off.

yeah he has an external amp. is there any way that it could be something to due with the factory amp which i think i saw under the passanger seat. and he also has the thing that looks like a motherboard thing and it conected to the battery but when i followed the wires it lead to nothin and it has a black and red wire and the have fuses nut when he got the car it wasnt connected to anything

well what we did was we went to a audio place that sells the things u need and asked them for the harness and they gave us that plus the dash install kit. and all that was in the harness bag was just the wiring and so we connected the big one that fits in there with the one we got than wired it up to the cd player and it turns on and everything but we dont get any sound or anything. but the only thing that i dont know what it goes to is there was a littler wire set with like four wires coming from it and so i just recently tried connecting the colors with the other ones too and that did nothing but i still wonder about the other two plug in things cuz there is no spot on the cd player to plug them in at and i looked up like what they r for and one said it was a sub antenna plug in and the bigger one was like a cd changer thing which that shouldnt really matter.

It could be the amplifier underneath the passengers seat if you have a model with the amplifier. thats the problem I had

You don't have a ground hooked up somewhere on the stereo, or you have your wiring incorrect.

Like I said, look at your wiring diagram again. Does he have an external amp that may not be powering up with the new radio. Something is not wired correctly, or the stereo would be playing out the speakers.

You will have to look at the vehicles wiring to see what goes where. I don't have the schematic. Did you wire the stereo with the factory wiring, did you use the install kit for the wiring?

After Market Radio Installation

Hey man, you have an amplified system. use a 70-1858 wiring harness and jump the blue/white wire from the aftermarket radio to the pink wire on the second plug. this will power on the factory amp with the aftermarket radio.

Depending on the model, the Silverado may have an amplifier between the OEM radio and the speakers. If that is the case, you will have to remove it and wire directly to the speakers. Check the wiring schematics for the original truck radio option (one source is Alldatadiy.com).

1997 pontiac grand prix gtp factory amp

Apparently it was available with and without. If you have a pair of sub speakers, then you have the amplifier. The factory radio was equipped with inputs for an optional multi-disc CD player so connecting an aftermarket player should be easy. You may have to add a 10A CD CHG fuse to the fuse block, ground the unit to a BLK/WHT wire, and connect the right output wire to connector 3 pin 10, the left output wire to pin 11, and the audio common lead to pin 12.

YUKON CD PLAYER NO SOUND!

Is your IP Bus cable on the INPUT and not the OUTPUT ? I know it sounds funny, but usually(95%), that's the case. If it's in the wrong plug, you'll have power and a display, but no audio. That's why your getting data but no audio.

Radio shows on but no sound to speakers

I flooded my Eclipse and the AMP is under the passenger seat. Might have got wet and ruined it. They are expensive from the dealership ($900). Try a junk yard.

Wiring diagram Max 2255 Addzest sound system

BE MORE SPECIFIC!

Why do you need to trace them? Is it a stock amp? If you know where the amp is....then tracing the wiring is a cinch....

The amp has to be powered, so there's most likely a power wire from your battery. If it's a stock amp, it's powered from behind your cd player. And be more specific, what speakers? There's like what, six?

They all go to one spot man, right behind the cd player.

What's spiking? The sound? As in it's loud, quiet, loud, quiet, loud? You might have a bad ground somewhere, so check grounds. Those are easy to find, behind the deck the ground is black. If it's an aftermarket amp, then the ground is going to be close by to it. It's most likely screwed to the steel part of your car.

It could be your deck to, it might have just got randomly defective. You do have a 96 after all.

If it's an aftermarket cd player...check your wiring harness. You have to cut the wires from the car to tie them into the harness for your cd player, so jiggle those around to see if you can hear a difference.
