It will stay MG if it's mangesium and i would say no it's not that.

its most likly steal.

the steal is to thin to weld unless your very skilled.
aluminum is to soft and will melt.
MG will burst in flams and may blind you.

Don't weld this. just go to junker get a new one and guy a gasket from NAPA or someting. it will tkae 30 min to drain the oil take it off put the new one on and tighten it up with the gasket..... some were around 20ft/lbs should be fine. or just tight. start your car and inspect your work. if it leaks tighten it up more.

Good God. Wish people would learn how to spell. STEEL. Anyway, I would not recommend welding your oil pan. I suggest you go to the salvage yard and pull one off of the same make/model of your vehicle. At LKQ Salvage yard, a steel one is 20 and an aluminum one is 30.

1995 Saab 900S - Engine stops. Oil changed, other

I hope you win your bet but, the drain for the oil is center of the oil pan. There are no other drain plugs near that. They may have drained the differential or transfer case by mistake if that is a front wheel drive. If they over filled your engine oil they should be repairing the engine though. Transmission fluid is red and it would have been obvious they drained that by mistake so I would agree that wasn't what was drained.

My 1998 900 se saab developed a leak right under and were the oil plug is, I don't know where its coming from, could it be the W/P ?

Clean the present oil off with brake cleaner spray. Then make sure everything is wiped clean. Start it up and while its running check for small cracks where the oil drain plug is located. Sometimes when the oil plug is threaded back in, people torque it down to tight causing the pan to develop hair line fractures in the pan. I'm assuming your talking about the oil pan drain plug? Also look for trails oil oil that may have come from somewhere above and trailed down to the area you are looking at.

Where is the thermostat in a 900s oh. 97 saab 900S Well my car was overheating and I notice in this model car if you need your oil changed it will overheat. So there is oil and all my fluids are full...

Oil change interval has nothing to do with operating temperature. If your coolant is full, feel the upper radiator hose, when the vehicle is up to temp. if cool , thermostat is back from that hose,

Look for air bleeds, and read owners manual, some cars have coolant bleeds. Also, heater on high when filling coolant or risk bubbles...

My thought is that your fans may not be kicking in. They should cycle on and keep temp low enough. test them.

Removal of oil pan?

The car has three mounts in a triangle configuration. The front trans mount, the passenger side motor mount and the rear motor mount. I do not know if anyone has ever successfully raised the engine to slide the pan out, but remember, if you do this, the pan goes back on with anaerobic gasket maker on it, so make sure you can slide it out with grating on the underside of the block. If you can't, then it will likely be impossible to get back in place without smearing the gasket maker all over and making a heck of a mess. The commonly accepted way to remove the pan is to remove the two front subframe bolts and allow the subframe to drop enough to get the clearance you require. The bolts are 18 mm heads and are really torqued on there so you will need a serious breaker bar and cheater bar to go with it. USE SOLID JACKSTANDS or BETTER YET, RAMPS to do this. The force you will need to apply can take the car right off a single jack.

How do you read the oil level correctly on dipstick to 1995 Saab 900S?

All dipsticks have an upper and lower mark ..the top mark is the full mark and the lower mark is the add oil mark. Check it with the engine off on level ground.  Also after the motor running at take a few minutes for the oil to return to the oil pan to get an accurate reading.
Do not overfill.
