Question about 2003 Ford Ranger Regular Cab
Heater is making a clicking noise and activates itself automatically and the AC won't work, although I can cheat the AC clutch with a hot wire temporarily and make it work.
The flap under the dash can be heard clicking over and over, almost constantly. I read where another person had a similar problem with an Explorer (similar interior / dash), and it was the heater flap switch, and she was able to observe that he replaced it fairly quickly for a $20 part.
It is now summer and I'd really like to get my AC working. Here is what I know so far:
AC compressor works, I tested it with a temp hotwire and it will cool.
AC compressor has been recharged and the lines get cold like they should.
Heater activates itself shortly after engine start, but problem is intermittent and a clicking under the dashboard somewhere is heard over and over.
All help is appreciated. No matter how silly your idea may seem I am ready to try it. :)
Sorry never had one apart sao i cant finger anything in particular, remove any coversa and put head under and have a look, could be a faulty climatic computer or just a rubber pipe come off eoither on teh inlet manifold or on a flap operating mechanism
