well the entire exhaust was bad and all the cooling parts were as well i mean you could physically see them leaking. i am almost positive it is the oil pump because i do not have a major leak anywhere to cause the oil pressure light to come on and i do have a full sump of oil and the coolant is full. i just cant find the oil pump on the jeep and i do have a haynes manual on the way but i am in a pinch and need to fix it soon. as far as spending alot of money on parts i guess that is what you get when you buy a 300 dollar vehicle

Might be blocked catalitic converter or as simple as ignition timing . looks like you changed a lot of expensive things you also might want to get a different mechanic to help you

the oil light sensor located on the engine might be deffective. try installing a oil pressure gauge to see the real oil pressure. with the engine warm you should have at least 20 psi of pressure. try this first before spending a lot of $ again

Overheating replaced thermostat,no heat, sqeak at waterpump, top rad hose gets hot and solid

You vehicle blows head gasket very easy,to say it overheated and radiator is solid then you have combustion entering the cooling system. when the engine has cooled down and you can open the radiator cap smell the coolant does it smell like fuel or exhaust? If it does you definately have a head gasket

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition overheats, change radiator 5 times

sounds like you should check your thermostat, head gskts. water pump. If it' overheated that many times you are probably looking at resurfacing heads if they are still good, and replacing head gaskets and waterpump etc, might be easier swapping egj. out

Did you check if the fan starts up when the car has warmed up? The switch may have stopped working. Otherwise clean out the radiator and the outside. Make sure the thermostat is opening, even though it is new doesn't mean that it works. Start from cold and hold the top hose, it will get hot suddenly if it opens. Make sure all the hoses are clear and not collapsed inside.

Assuming you dont have a blown head gasket the most likely thing is a clogged radiator. Lee

Overheating issues for a 2001 grand jeep cherokke

If it was overheating at freeway speed then it is a clogged radiator. Another cause of overheating is a timing that is retarded. These can be caused by worn timing components etc, although a possiblity it is highly unlikely on your car.

Overheating jeep cherokee 1991

sounds like you have a airlock or air in the system. i had the same problem. there is two hoses that run along the value cover. undo the top one and plug it with a screw driver or something. then the other hose the one that runs to your water pump you need to install a T on it that you can attach a garden hose too. turn the hose on full blast. the water should come shooting on the engine where you disconnecting the hose. let the hose run for about 15mins or so. i jumped on the bumber a bit to shake the jeep. just to make sure all the air comes out. the point of this is that this is the highest point on the engine. so the water should force any air out. jeeps are bad for this any air in the system really messes things up. the transmission thing has nothing to do with this. good luck

Engine Temperature Guage on Dashboard indicates overheating

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, your described condition indicates a sticking thermostat, that is there is considerable delay before the thermostat opens. It is also possible that there is some restriction wherein the thermostat is not opening completely when the triggering temperature has been reached. As a test and to confirm, you could try temporarily removing the thermostat and operate the engine without one; observe temperature. The side effect of this test is that it would take some time to warm-up the engine, but operationally should not cause anything untoward. Of course, care has to be exercised that the gasket would still be intact.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
