Question about 1986 Toyota Corolla 2 Door

Headlights not working

I have a 1986 Toyota Corolla. The Headlights only work some of the time. I'm assuming that I may have a short. Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so what was the problem. Thanks

If it works some times then you dont have a busted bulb. if you have a short you will blow up some fuses. try checking some corroded sockets or relays

    1. headlight socket - 2 pcs going to each headlight.

    2. headlight relay - inside a black plastic case usually with some fuses.

    3. headlight switch - usually inside the car near the steering wheel.( this is what you use to turn on the lights)

    4. dimmer switch - this is what you use to choose between dim and bright

Tail, side and dash board lights not working

Not totally positive but I believe on your Toyota there are two places that fuses are located. You stated that all fuses under the bonnet are fine and I assume that means under the hood. The other place to check for a blown fuse would be under the dash instrument panel usually located directly above where your left knee would be while sitting in the drivers seat. Hope this is of some help. Good. Luck.

Have a 1986 toyota corolla, carburated, cooling fan is always on and i cannot find the short that is draining the battery, need basic simple help.

NOT A SHORT IN THE CIRCUIT! MORE LIKE A FAULTY THERMOSTATIC FAN SWITCH,ON THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR .Or a sending unit that is grounded all the time.
